The Parapsychology and Investigations Research Society (PAIRS), based in India, is known for conducting hair-raising investigations in haunted locations.

To date, PAIRS has explored more than 250 hair-raising places, including people’s homes and abandoned places.

Its founder Sarbajeet Mohanty – a certified demonologist – started the group to search for things beyond the realm of the mortal world.

He allied himself with Pooja Vijay, one of India’s famous psychics who claims to have the special ability to supernaturally perceive past events – and connect with spirits on an emotional level.

The pair and their crew have solved some of the most baffling cases of paranormal activity and “communicating with evil spirits.”

Along the way, they claimed to have collected some terrifying shreds of evidence for the skeptics.

Of the many cases that Sarbajeet and his well-educated friends have solved, one remains at the top of their list: the ‘Annabelle of India’.

A pink doll said to be possessed by the vengeful spirit of a murdered woman.

The case involved a grandmother and her grandchildren who regularly experienced paranormal sightings in their home.

They complained that they had seen a woman in a red dress who often jumped from their terrace, but then disappeared into thin air.

The family had been led to believe that the ghost was that of a woman who had been strangled by one of her relatives.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Sarbajeet said: “We showed the pictures of the place [to the psychic] she said she got a choking feeling and saw ropes.

“When we finally reached the house, just as we entered one of the rooms, we saw a pink cotton doll, which I like to call the Annabelle of India.”

But he claims mysterious things started happening when he picked up the doll in an attempt to provoke the ghost.

He added: “It was a cotton doll without batteries, but the EMF sensor started flashing when I brought it to it, something that would never normally happen.”

We saw [crew member’s] leg was pulled by something invisible and saw five dark fingerprints on his leg. This is the kind of evidence we live for

“Suddenly one of my crew fell to the ground and started choking.

“At that moment, a second member, who was holding the camera, suddenly started shouting for help.

“We saw his leg being pulled by something invisible and saw five dark fingerprints on his leg.

“This is the kind of evidence we live for, so it felt great to have collected so much of it.”

Sarbajeet says he and his team had a close encounter with what they claim was the ghost of the murdered lady.

He said: ‘The lady who haunted the place had been strangled and murdered, so she probably didn’t even realize she was seeking revenge.

“We had to let them know this wasn’t their place [to do so].”

THE MOST HAUNTED HOUSE IN INDIA

The expert says that delving into the history of a building with proper research is very important in order to conduct paranormal research.

According to the demonologist, most cases are not supernatural – and can be debunked using pure science.

Sarbajeet said, “It is extremely important to know the circumstances as most of the time there are no spooky things in the places but only our thoughts playing tricks on us.”

The best way to clear a haunted place is to make the ghost realize that he or she is dead

Sarbayeet Mohanty Founder of PAREN

“It is necessary to find all scientific and logical explanations for this thing, and if everything is ruled out, then we consider the paranormal aspect.”

The paranormal investigator believes his job is not only to catch ghosts, but also to debunk theories and false stories circulating in a haunted place.

In 2019, the group visited what has been called India’s most haunted residential area: the abandoned De Mello house in Goa.

Stories suggest that the house was haunted by the evil spirit of a Portuguese man named De Mello, who killed his brother out of spite – and later committed suicide.

When Sarbajeet and his team heard the story, they decided to investigate the once opulent property to find out the truth.

They used a spirit box to communicate with the spirit, hoping to hear back from a male entity.

However, shocking paranormal readings revealed the presence of a female entity that cursed the house.

After communicating with the ghost, Sarbajeet and his team concluded that the ghost was of a young girl who was brutally attacked and murdered in the house.

According to the ghostly experts, the presence was afraid of what “lay ahead,” so she refused to leave and became trapped in the house.

“The case was never about the De Mello brothers, there was a girl in that same family who was tortured and murdered,” Sarbajeet added.

“She was the one who haunted the whole house.”

Sarbajeet and his team of ghostbusters use high-tech gadgets to conduct their search and provide evidence to skeptics.

He said: ‘We have become experts in these areas and with the help of our psychic, we know if somewhere is haunted.

“The gadgets help us make our customers and other skeptics believe in what we do.”

One of the most used gadgets in his bag is the electromagnetic field sensor (EMF), which Sarbajeet says detects the presence of a ghost as long as there are no other interruptions from live electrical wires.

Another instrument in their destiny is the EVP recorder of the “electronic voice phenomenon”, which can detect ultrasonic and infrasonic sounds inaudible to the human ear.

If there is what Sarbajeet calls an intelligent pursuit – where the expert thinks there may be something other than just scientific explanations – he and his team prepare to conduct a thorough investigation.

Once a spirit’s presence is realized and proven, their team does what they call a “deep cleansing” of the place.

“The best way they do this is by making the ghost realize that they are dead,” Sarbajeet said.

“Sometimes these spirits end up in our world without realizing it, so simply telling them they don’t belong here usually works in the cleansing process.”

“We just talk to the entity as if we were talking to the person: they were once alive. They’re stuck in this realm.”
