I’m a home stylist and here’s an easy way to make your cheap carnations look luxurious

A home stylist has revealed his simple method that instantly makes cheap supermarket carnations look more expensive.

Loui Burke from Melbourne went viral earlier this month when he showed his 220,000 followers how their flowers can make ‘extra impact’.

In a TikTok video who has racked up more than 124,000 likes, the influencer said: “[This is] how to make cheap flowers look more chic.’

After picking up two bunches of pink carnations from his local supermarket, Loui – who shares home styling tips on his Instagram and TikTok – explained how they look “quite closed” to begin with.

He explained, “This is because they have a green shell around them.

“You can peel that off and then play with the petals and they’ll double in size.”

After adding some extra volume, Loui recommended taking out a few petals in the center so they fan out more.

He continued: ‘[This] reveal the heart of the flower and now they look like a lisianthus or even a frilled rose.

“Repeat this step with all the flowers and you’ll have a huge bunch compared to what you started with.”

However, the house expert says the bunch will look “more dynamic” if a few flowers with their central petals are left intact.

Loui concluded the video by saying, “You’re left with a nice bunch of carnations, but a little fancier.”

In the caption, Loui added, “These carnations turn into more of a lisianthus or frilly rose.” Pretty good for $16 [£8.40]!’

The lifehack has been viewed more than 962,000 times since it was uploaded five days ago – and viewers were amazed at how impressive the flowers looked.

How to make your cheap flowers a little fancy 🌸✨ A bunch of carnations cost about $6 – $8 AUD Grab two bunches for extra impact. When you get your flowers they will be quite compact at first. By peeling off the green covering around the petals, you can open them up to twice their size. For a little extra zhuzh, pluck some of the petals from the center to reveal the center. Make more of a lisianthus or a rose with frills from these carnations. Pretty good for $16! #flowerhack#carnations
