I'm the world's most glamorous fighter pilot and now I'm aiming for a different kind of runway…I want to be Miss Universe

A glamorous fighter pilot decided to swap the cockpit for a different kind of runway because she now wants to become Miss Universe.

Michelle Martin, who joined the Chilean Air Force at the age of 18 will now represent her home country in the famous beauty pageant.

At the age of 24, Michelle rose to the rank of second lieutenant.

But her military career didn't stop her from becoming one of the most glamorous fighter pilots in the world.

Michelle often shows off her beauty both on and off duty – from a tight, sleek bun paired with her uniform to summery photos on the beach.

She was born in Venezuela and settled down Chili with her family, more than five years ago.

Michelle, daughter of a Chilean father and a Venezuelan mother, will represent the city of Puerto Montt, where she has been based for several years.

Talking about her decision to participate Ms. Universeshe said: “My decision to participate was enthusiastically welcomed by my family in Chile and Venezuela, as well as by my Air Force colleagues.”

“I really like military life. “The career is a lot of fun and you grow integrally,” she said in an earlier interview.

Michelle is one of the few candidates not involved in the entertainment industry.

This year, representatives from Miss Universe Chile will be present Big Brother star Francisca Maira and influencer Bárbara Lackington, who appeared on Chef in 2019.

Trans model, Ariel Cordero, has also been announced as a candidate.

The final of Miss Universe 2024 will take place in Mexico City later this year on November 17.

A spokesperson for the organization said: “We would like to introduce Michelle Martin who has qualified for Miss Universe Chile 2024 through a personal casting call.

“You will soon be able to learn more about Michelle in our Miss Universe Chile app.”

Last week it was confirmed that a 72-year-old grandmother is vying to become Miss Universe Argentina.

If successful, Estela Menéndez hopes to represent her country at the international event this year.

She was able to participate in the pageant after the age limit was removed for 2024.

Previously, candidates had to be between 18 and 28 years old.

Filipino fashion designer Jocelyn Cubales said yes ready to walk the catwalk at the age of 69 after she also went to Miss Universe.

While some women may want to avoid the spotlight, Jocelyn loves being on stage and has competed in numerous pageants.

This includes Mrs Asia International Global and Mrs Mother of the Universe competition, both of which she won in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

When the Miss Universe organization relaxed these rules last year, Jocelyn knew she wanted to compete in the pageant.

Even the attention from the press and younger competitors doesn't seem to faze this 69-year-old as she competed in a regional leg of the Miss Universe pageant in Quezon City last month.

However, fashion design is no stranger to keeping it all, regularly wear a belly-hugging outfit for pageants and modeling appearances.

Even when she's off duty, the 69-year-old still wears denim hot pants and high heels – proving that age is really just a number.
