Ahead of the World Cup match between India and Australia, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik said that the police are monitoring the issue and if anyone is caught selling black tickets, action will be taken against him.

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik responded to the situation black marketing of tickets for the ICC Cricket World Cup final match between India and Australia. He stated that the city police are working proactively to combat the black marketing of ticketsand if such activity occurs during the match, action will be taken against the perpetrators. He emphasized that the police have not discovered any duplicate tickets for the World Cup match.“…As soon as the police receives information about this, they will investigate… They will work proactively on this… So far we have not found any duplicate fines. If something like this happens during the match, police will conduct investigation as per law,” Malik said.

The Cricket World Cup match will be played tomorrow around 2 pm between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Further inquiring about the security arrangements in the city, the commissioner stated that the department has called in nearly 2,000 policemen from other states and as many as 6,000 policemen and paramilitary personnel will be deployed in the city on Sunday.

“…We have called almost 2,000 police officers from outside… In total we are using more than 6,000 police officers… Paramilitary (violence) is different… Water facilities and all other things have been done in the stadium…,” said Malik.

The police commissioner added that all arrangements regarding security measures have been made and that the police will hold a rehearsal tomorrow evening. He further appealed to people to use the metro, which will be operational until 1am.

“Australian Deputy Prime Minister Assam CM, Union Home Minister and other dignitaries will come to watch the Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia. All agreements have been made. Today we have a rehearsal in the evening. I appeal to people to use the metro and the metro will be operational till 1am…,” he added.

Interestingly, Team India is in excellent form and, if it reaches the final, will remain unbeaten in 10 matches, beating New Zealand by 70 points in the semi-final. Adding to the excitement, former skipper and star batsman Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar with his 50th ODI century, while Mohammed Shami took as many as seven wickets in the match, securing the top spot in the list of wicket-takers in the tournament.

The entire country is praying for the historic victory of the ‘Men In Blue’.
