International Purple Fest 2024, the global celebration of inclusivity and empowerment kicks off in Goa

International Purple Fest 2024: Monday marks the start of the much-awaited International Purple Fest – Goa 2024, which will unfold the vibrant celebration of inclusivity and empowerment till January 13. Organized by the State Commissioner Office for Persons with Disabilities, in association with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa, and supported by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the grand inauguration held at DB Grounds, Campal, Panaji at 4:30 PM.
The impressive opening ceremony saw key figures present, with Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, as the chief guest, and Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, as the guest of honour. Notable personalities such as Union Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Union Minister of State for Tourism, Ports and Waterways Shripad Naik, among others, were present.
The festival aims to showcase the talents of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through engaging performances of music, dance and entertainment during the opening ceremony.
A standout moment during the opening ceremony was the rendition of the purple national anthem titled ‘Dhumal’, which featured performances by persons with disabilities from different corners of Goa, alongside respected creators from the Indian music industry, symbolizing inclusivity and unity.
It is going to launch various initiatives of DEPwD and Goa Govt. during this International Purple Festival.
With an expected global attendance of over 8,000 delegates, the International Purple Fest – Goa 2024 promises to be a celebration of diversity, inclusivity and empowerment on a global scale. Stay tuned for updates on this extraordinary journey towards a more inclusive future.
