Iran, China and Russia to hold terrifying 'Cerberus' exercises in WEEKS in response to NATO war games as World War II tensions soar

IRAN has said it will conduct fearsome military exercises with China and Russia within weeks in response to NATO war games.

Vice Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of the Iranian Navy, said the joint naval exercise will take place before the end of March – and will focus on “regional security”.

The locations of these exercises have not yet been confirmed, but could likely take place in the Gulf of Oman, where the three countries' naval fleets sailed in March last year.

According to Iran's Tasnim news agency, other countries have been invited to participate in the “war game” as observers.

Commander Irani said, “We also invite other countries to participate in the naval exercises of Iran, China and Russia that will take place before the end of March.”

The exercises will create a three-headed watchdog aimed squarely at the West – much like Cerberus, the beast that guards the gates of hell in Greek mythology.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin also share a deep hatred of the West – and have been compared to the 'Axis of Evil' of World War II.

It comes as NATO began its largest military exercise since the Cold War, amid soaring tensions in World War III.

Steadfast defender 2024 is now underway across thousands of miles of Europe, as armadas, fighter jet fleets and 90,000 troops conduct land, sea, air, cyber and space operations.

It will see 32 countries prepare for a possible Russian attack on Europe, while Putin plans to wage war against the West.

Without mentioning Russia by name, he said NATO must prove that it is “ready” for any threat to its security.

“Every exercise matters. The big picture is deterrence,” the military chief added.

The plan behind Steadfast Defender 2024 (STDE24) is to “advance readiness at the strategic, operational and tactical levels,” Brigadier General Bruegner said.

He added: “The sheer scale and ambition of this exercise will show us where we stand and how we need to adapt.”

One that will send a 'clear message within and outside the military [alliance] that we are ready!”

It's a chance to do “stress testing from top to bottom,” Bruegner said.

“This is how we prepare, emphasize this with troops on the ground and build capacity for deterrence.”

Bruegner's comments come amid a wave of recent warnings from top military chiefs and policymakers about the threat of large-scale war with Russia the coming years.

During the joint military exercise, alliance members will practice how U.S. forces can reinforce European allies on the alliance's eastern flank if a conflict were to flare up with a “nearly equal” opponent.

Around 20,000 British troops will join their key allies in the war exercises which will continue until May. This will involve 31 alliance members and NATO candidate Sweden.

More than 50 ships, from aircraft carriers to destroyers, will participate, as well as more than 80 fighter jets, helicopters and drones and at least 1,100 combat vehicles, including 133 tanks and 533 infantry fighting vehicles.

The Royal Navy's two new aircraft carriers and eight warships will also be sent to conduct and test conflict scenarios in naval exercises called “Joint Warrior”.

Last week The Sun joined crack Royal Marines train for war with Russia at their new polar base Camp Viking in Norway.

The elite commando force will help lead Britain's ground operations during Steadfast Defender.

Speaking to The Sun at the Arctic base, Armed Forces Secretary James Heappey explained that if NATO went to war with Russia, Britain would take the lead in fighting in Arctic conditions, which are the toughest in the world.

The planned war games will be carried out close to Russia's borders, in key areas including the Baltic states, and close to the new borders Flash point WW3the Suwalki Gorge.

It comes as the The chances of World War III continue to rise following growing concerns about the escalation of regional wars.

People fear that Putin's invasion of Ukraine could see Russian forces move beyond Ukrainian borders to launch attacks on Europe, forcing NATO to join the war.

Putin has made dozens of threats to the West since his invasion of Ukraine almost two years ago.

And recently, a leaked military report revealed what the top brass of the Kremlin might be roadmap to bring the West to the brink of collapse World War 3 – and it starts in weeks.

The secret documents detail the despot's possible “road to conflict”, which will culminate in the summer of 2025, on “Day NATO And Russian soldiers will face each other.

To counter the potential threat from Moscow, the Baltic states have agreed to build a series of bunkers on their borders with Russia and Belarus to protect their troops in the event of an attack.

Estonia plans to build 600 concrete bunkers with distribution lines – costing more than £55 million – on its side of the border with Russia.

Each bunker will be designed to accommodate ten military troops for extended periods, and will also be equipped with life support equipment.

According to the Estonian ministry's sketches, the wide range of bunkers will consist of T-shaped trenches, camouflaged by foliage.

These trenches are designed to withstand 152mm projectiles and direct enemy fire.

In addition to the labyrinth of bunkers, “dragon's teeth” tank barriers, barriers, minefields and barbed wire would also be stored for installation if necessary.
