ISRO Young Scientist Program: YUVIKA 2024 Registration opens on February 20, here's how to register

ISRO announced that the Young Scientist Program or YUVIKA will be held from May 13 to 24 for Standard 9 students.

Bangalore: Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO has announced the schedule for the Young Scientist Program 'YUVIKA' 2024, which will take place from May 13 to 24. YUVIKA is designed for students of class 9. Notably, it is a two-week residential program designed for students and according to ISRO, the program focuses on imparting basic knowledge about space technology, science and applications to children. Registrations for the program will start from February 20 and end on March 20, 2024. The space agency will select the participants based on the following parameters:

Parameter and weight

• Marks obtained in Class 8 exam 50%
• Performance in the online quiz 10%
• Science fair participation (school/district/state and above level in the last 3 years) 2/5/10%
• Rank in Olympiad or equivalent (rank 1 to 3 in school/district/state and higher level in last 3 years) 2/4/5%
• Winners of sports competitions (rank 1 to 3 at school/district/state and higher level in the last 3 years) 2/4/5%
• Scout and Guides / NCC / NSS Member in the past 3 years 5%
• Studying in a village/rural school in the Panchayat area 15%

ISRO's Young Scientist Program 2024: Follow these steps to register yourself

• Interested candidates must register on ISRO Antariksha Jigyasa Platform
• Click on the verification link sent to the registered email address
• Students must then participate in SpaceQuiz
• Enter the requested information
• Upload a photocopy of certified certificates for the verification procedure.
• Scan and upload the document and submit the application.

According to ISRO, the program aims to encourage more students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) based research/career.
