But secretary Dorin, 29, opened the letter at their home in Edgware, north London, on Monday, to find it had been destroyed.

Director of a civil engineering company Israel, who did not want to give his surname, told The Sun: “I was shocked and extremely angry when I saw that it had been torn apart and my birthplace, Israel, had been erased.

“My daughter Ronnie is not even six months old, but she has already been subjected to anti-Semitism and discrimination because of her father's place of birth.

“Luckily she's not old enough to understand it, but she and we as a family shouldn't have to suffer because of it.

“It took me back to the 1930s, when Jewish documents in Nazi Germany were automatically assigned and controlled.

“But this is unfortunately a sign of the times we currently live in. Jews are afraid to take to the streets in London because of increasing abuse.

“What makes this all the more horrible is that it is someone from within the system. This person has all our data, which is very worrying.

“The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for our security. They damaged our property that I entrusted to them.

“I want them to find out who did this and make sure they are dealt with appropriately. They should never again work in public office with these views that arise from pure hatred.”

Israel, a father of three who also has Adiel, eight, and five-year-old Ella, warned the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA), which is supporting the family and urging the Home Office to investigate.

A spokesperson for the group said: “This is completely unacceptable. When you send a passport application to the Home Office, the last thing you should ever expect is for your child's birthday certificate to be returned, torn, with the parent's place of birth scrawled on it. , just because it is the Jewish state.

“We stand by the parents, who are understandably very concerned about this incident. We also ask the Ministry of the Interior to investigate how this could have happened.

“The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for law enforcement and the security of the Jewish community and the wider public. Trust among British Jews in the authorities is at a painfully low level and needs to be restored.”

Home Secretary James Cleverly said: “I have asked my officials to investigate this urgently and will ensure appropriate action is taken.”

The Ministry of the Interior is now expected to investigate the matter
