Jenny Slate reveals she split her dress at the 2023 Oscars

Slate, 41, revealed during an appearance on Tuesday, February 20 Jimmy Kimmel Live that she had a major wardrobe malfunction when she tried to attend the ceremony. “I get in it, I sit down and it splits,” she said of the black strapless corset dress custom made by Thom Browne. Slate explained that the piece was so form-fitting that she was “screwed like a living doll.”
'And guess what came out? My ass,” she told Kimmel, 58.
Kimmel immediately burst out laughing, pausing only to ask Slate “how much” of her butt was visible. “I'd say it was half a crack,” Slate confirmed.

Slate previously talked about the dress W magazine after the awards ceremony, and said that she and her stylist, Monty Jacksonhad to “catch their breath” when they heard Thom Browne offered to make the dress.
Slate specifically asked for a corset silhouette and an excellent hip detail because “these are the things about my body that I like to celebrate right now.” She added just the right amount of sparkle to the look with diamond and emerald jewelry from Gismondi 1754.
Before her custom-made dress tore, Slate was already experiencing a chaotic evening.
She revealed to Kimmel that she actually rushed to the Oscars because her sprinter van accidentally drove to the Hollywood Bowl, an outdoor amphitheater, instead of the Dolby Theater where the Oscars were taking place.
As soon as she walked in, her movie Marcel the Shell wearing shoes was announced as a nominee in the Best Animated Film category. “We're the first winner, my ass is out, we lose straight away,” she joked to Kimmel.
Although she lost the award for best animated film, she was still able to receive a number of awards with the cast Everything everywhere at once. Slate joked that she “wobbled” on stage while “holding my butt.”
