Junior Mehmood dies at the age of 67 after a long battle with stage four stomach cancer

Veteran actor Junior Mehmood, known from films like Caravan, Haathi Mere Saathi And Mera Name Joker, passed away last night at his residence in Mumbai after his long battle with stage four stomach cancer. He was 67. He was undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital. He was reportedly recovering at home. Since a week ago, his health condition started to deteriorate and he had to be put on oxygen support.

Junior Mehmood’s real name was Naeem Sayyed. He worked in more than 250 films during his career that spanned more than five decades.

Salam Kazi, a close friend of Jr. Mehmood, confirmed the death news ETimes, he said: “He was ill for two months and at first we thought he might have a little problem, but then his weight suddenly started to drop. And when the medical reports came, it said that there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumor in the intestine, and that he had also developed jaundice. So the treatment continues, but the doctors said it is stage four cancer.

Actor Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar visited him on Thursday morning. They had even shared photos of him and revealed that it was an emotional moment for them.

Junior Mehmood’s funeral will take place on Friday, December 8 at around 12 noon at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz west, the place where his mother is also buried.

The veteran actor also appeared in films like Brahmachari, Kati Patang, Hare Raama Hare Krishna, Geet Gaata Chal, Imaandaar, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri, Aaj Ka Arjun, Gurudev, Chhote Sarkar And Judaai.
