Kate’s touching tribute: Princess of Wales opts for Diana’s bracelet and earrings as she wears the late Queen’s necklace for ‘Scottish Coronation’

The Princess of Wales paid a sweet tribute to her husband’s late mother and grandmother today as she wore their jewelery to King Charles’s coronation in Scotland.

Kate, 41, looked regal in a bespoke Catherine Walker dress, which she has worn several times in the past, as she joined other senior royals for a royal procession through Edinburgh.

And in a touching nod to the late Queen, Kate opted to wear Her Majesty’s pearl choker – which was also worn by Diana. The Royal Family wore the same necklace to the funerals of both the Queen and Prince Philip.

She also wore a beautiful pearl bracelet that originally belonged to Diana.

This isn’t Kate’s first time wearing the iconic piece, as she wore it while visiting Germany in 2017, and many times since.

The bracelet was famously worn by Diana in 1989 when she toured Hong Kong with Prince Charles.

The bracelet’s designer, Nigel Milne, was surprised to see the jewelry being worn again decades after he created the piece in 1988.

Milne and his wife Cherry decided to produce various pieces of jewelery and the proceeds from the sale went to the BIRTHRIGHT charity, of which Diana was a patron.

One of the pieces was the bracelet that graced Kate’s wrist, which Diana wore on several occasions, including at the 1989 Birthright Ball and with her iconic Catherine Walker ‘Elvis’ dress.

Kate also paid tribute to the last Princess of Wales by wearing her earrings.

At today’s event, Kate swept her hair into a stunning updo and opted for neutral makeup, with a touch of eyeliner and a hint of blush.

Kate and Prince William watched as the King and Queen received the Honors of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, in a national thanksgiving ceremony.

The ceremony, at St Giles’ Cathedral, is an important part of Royal Week, with Charles and Camilla taking on various assignments in Scotland.

And despite the formality of the occasion, Kate seemed to be in a playful mood — at one point in the service, she gently patted her man’s buttocks.

It’s a move Kate has seen performed a number of times in recent months, and remains a rare public display of affection for the couple.

She playfully tapped him on the bum during their day at the Royal Ascot last month, and the royal fans went wild when she performed the same gesture on the red carpet at the BAFTAs in February.
