“I think we have to make at least another hundred episodes,” said the 68-year-old actor Variety in an interview published on Wednesday, November 22. “Sufficient foundation has been laid between these people; they are wonderful characters. I want to see where they go. And I want to see what happens to Frasier.”

Frasier initially ran for eleven seasons between 1993 and 2004 on NBC, following the titular character Frasier Crane (Grammer), a successful therapist who moves from Boston to his hometown of Seattle after his divorce. Frasier, who viewers first met as a stuffy bar regular on the hit sitcom cheershosts his own talk show to help those in need, while simultaneously dealing with his own romantic and family problems.

Almost two decades later Frasier ended, Paramount+ announced plans for a revival that would see Grammer reprise his role. In the series, which premiered on the streaming platform last October, Frasier returns to Boston in an attempt to reconnect with his son (Jack Cutmore Scott). The show marks a new chapter for the character, one in which he is older, wiser and, much to Grammer’s delight, wearing much more casual clothes.

Ready for more salad and scrambled eggs? Frasier of the most celebrated comedies of the 1990s and 2000s – and the sitcom is finally getting the reboot treatment. “I really thought it was a natural progression for him,” Grammer said Variety from Frasier who dealt in suits for jeans and sneakers. “But also self-evident to me. People didn’t talk about it much on the old version of the show. But my feet were always a problem. And I got a message from some podiatrists on the show years ago asking, “What’s going on with your feet?”

Grammarly explained that he has a “walking problem” and “really, really bad ankles,” so it’s “easier” for him to wear sneakers instead of a “set of custom brogues and stuff.”

Another source of comfort for the Emmy winner is the return of James Burrows. One of Cheers’ original creators, Burrows, 82, signed on to direct the first two episodes of the revival, for which Grammer is extremely grateful.

“It’s a slice of personal heaven for me that Jimmy Burrows is still in my life,” Grammer said. “And I will always think that way about him. He is very helpful. And his loyalty to our friendship was… He’s just ace. He is one of the greatest people I know. Our relationship has been extraordinary over the years and I am so grateful he was there.”

After reports of a possible revival first emerged in 2018, Grammer spoke exclusively We weekly that he spoke to writers and “discussed options” about which platform would be an “appropriate” place for the show to land.

“There is some movement; We’ll see what happens. I just want to make sure it’s really good,” he said Us in 2019, adding that fans should expect a “third act” of sorts.

Three years later, Grammer confirmed that the ‘final’ script was in its final stages. “I ran through it a few times and I cried, so you know what, I’m happy,” he said during a July 2022 episode of The conversation. “The most important ingredient for the Frasier is basically Frasier, honestly. There was always a call [Frasier] so it is me, the key is me.”
