Kerala Crime News: In a disturbing incident, a 14-year-old girl died at a hospital in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on Tuesday, days after she was allegedly beaten and fed poison by her own father over an alleged love affair with a boy of a different faith. .

According to police, the suspect, Abees Mohammad, did not approve of her teenage daughter’s relationship with a boy belonging to a different faith, but the girl did not heed her father’s repeated warnings and continued her friendship with the boy.

Angry that his daughter was involved in an interfaith love affair, the irate father allegedly attacked the 14-year-old girl and force-fed her herbicide, police said, adding that the girl was rushed to a local hospital and later was transferred to the intensive care unit. care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Kochi on October 29.

The girl was on a ventilator for almost 10 days before succumbing on Tuesday, they said.

After her death, hospital authorities informed the police, who immediately registered an FIR against the 43-year-old suspect and arrested him.

According to the FIR, Abees was furious over her daughter’s love affair with a boy of a different faith and repeatedly warned her to cut off all contact with the boy and even took away her phone. However, the teen persisted and continued her relationship with the boy, talking to her through another cell phone she had somehow acquired.

When Abees heard about this, he was indignant and in a fit of rage, he cruelly beat his daughter to a pulp with an iron rod and then force-fed her with herbicide with the intention of killing her, the FIR said, adding that the 14 It 8 year-old victim also suffered serious injuries to her arms and legs as a result of severe abuse by her father.

Abees was arrested and booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempt to murder and voluntarily causing harm with dangerous weapons. After the girl’s death, charges of murder will also be added against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC.

Further investigation is ongoing, they said.
