Kristin Davis of SATC: I was “mercilessly ridiculed” after getting fillers

Kristin Davis opened up about how hard it is to be ridiculed for both aging and taking steps to fight the process.

Davis starred as Charlotte York-Goldenblatt in six seasons Sex and the city, which has remained in the pop culture zeitgeist since it premiered 25 years ago. While syndication has its perks, being constantly reminded over the years of what she looked like in her 30s was hard on Davis’s self-esteem.

“It’s a challenge to remember that you don’t have to look like this,” she added. “The internet wants you to do that, but they don’t want you to do that either. They are very conflicted.”

The Vacation in the wilderness star opened up about plastic surgery. She said she tried several facial fillers to fight wrinkles and signs of aging.

“I did fillers and it was good, and I did fillers and it was bad,” the actress explained. “I have had to have them dissolved and I have been relentlessly ridiculed. And I shed tears for it. It’s very stressful.”

Davis noted that critics blamed her for fillers that didn’t look right, despite the results being the work of a doctor. “People blame us personally when things go wrong,” she complained.

She revealed that having honest friends is another important factor. “Nobody told me it didn’t look good for a long time,” she revealed. “But luckily I have good friends who eventually said it.”

Davis is not alone SATC cast member who has opened up about plastic surgery. Kim Cattrallwho played Samantha Jones in the HBO original series Daily mail in April 2011 that she wanted to “embrace aging because I think that’s interesting.” She added at the time, “I think a forehead without lines doesn’t mean they’ve lived a life.”

However, the actress, 66, clarified her position in an interview with that of the UK Sunday Times earlier this month. “I probably said that in my 40s! I am now in my 60s and I want to fight aging in every way possible,” said Cattrall.

“There are now so many other alternatives, treatments that stimulate your own body to fight aging. There are fillers, Botox, there are so many different things you can explore and try to see if it’s for you,” she continued. “But yes, if you have the money and, more importantly, the right surgeon. … It cannot be stressed enough. You want to look like yourself.”

The native of Canada – who will return as the iconic publicist in And just like that season 2 on Max – noted that this kind of self-care is necessary for her career.

“It’s not just vanity,” Cattrall explained. “I play a certain kind of woman who looks a certain way. And professionally I take care of myself.”
