Liquor sale, last date for serving EXTENDED for Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Pune; Here’s everything you need to know

Liquor sale timings and serving deadline have been extended in Pune for both Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Read to know what changes the government has announced.

New Delhi: Christmas is here and New Year is just around the corner. Everyone is in a festive mood and ready to ring in the new year with friends and family. Most people celebrate New Year’s Eve by hosting or attending parties, and quite a few people enjoy the consumption of alcohol. The government has set the timing sales and serving period of spirits which should be followed by both sellers and buyers. If you are a resident of Pune, you must know that the deadline for selling and serving liquor in the city has been extended, especially on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The Government of Maharashtra has approved the extension of liquor sales opening hours and has also allowed hotels, license rooms and clubs to open longer on these special holidays.

Drink serving times extended in Pune

As mentioned earlier, the deadline for serving liquor for Christmas and New Year’s Eve has been extended by the Maharashtra government for Pune. According to the notification, permit rooms and bars will be able to open until 5am on December 24, 25 and 31. Hotels and clubs under the jurisdiction of the Pune Police Commissionerate will serve liquor till 5am instead of 1.30am. what their previous closing was.

Deadline for liquor sales extended in Pune

The deadline for the sale of spirits has also been extended on Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, i.e. December 25, 25 and 31. All liquor stores will now remain open until 1 a.m. instead of the usual time of 10:30 p.m. Shops selling wine only will have a sales window until 1am and this timeline also applies to outlets selling beer, wine and/or both in sealed bottles for off-premises consumption.

While the government has announced a deadline for sale and serving of liquor, the state government is yet to release a notification on extension of deadlines for playing music in open air.
