Frankie Muniz revealed he’s “never had a sip of alcohol” during a candid discussion on a recent episode of the Breakdown podcast hosted by Mayim Bialik.

The 38-year-old racing driver – who is ‘100 per cent ready’ for a Malcolm In The Middle reunion – opened by saying: ‘I’ve never had a sip of alcohol’ and ‘never used drugs.’

Bialik later asked the former child star, “Did you grow up in a tradition where there was no drinking?” Don’t you want to drink?…You don’t have to.’

He quickly explained, laughing, “Every member of my family drinks. And they do it for fun, you know what I mean?’

“I’ve been trying to figure out why I didn’t, because I don’t have a reason,” Frankie continued. “It wasn’t really a religion.”

Muniz then said, “Maybe it has to do with my hatred of time. When I was 15, 16 years old, I felt like I was that age. For example, I had been through so much. And I had been through a lot in my life, compared to most fifteen or sixteen year olds.”

The Agent Cody Banks actor explained, “But even though I was in entertainment, I never saw it, and I mean the drug use, and all that stuff. Somehow I stayed away.”

“I just went to the set and did my thing,” he recalls of his time in Hollywood.

Frankie humorously added, “I grew up thinking the only people who smoked weed were Cops criminals,” referring to the reality TV show.

“Now I talk to my dad about it and my mom, and they say, ‘We smoked weed every day, you just didn’t know it.’ It’s strange to think back on.’

The sports star then told Mayim that the first time he came into contact with alcohol or drugs was when he was 18 years old. ‘In my mind I felt like I had gone so long without it. I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to start it now, even though I was only 18.'”

Muniz admitted he “couldn’t believe everyone’s reactions” when he revealed he didn’t drink.

‘They’d say, “Oh, we’re in a club, we have a bottle. Do you want something to drink?”, to which he’d respond, “No, I don’t drink. I’m good with water.”‘

‘And I always thought, “It’s so strange that people react so strongly when I don’t drink.” Like, who cares? I don’t care what you do. Why do you care about me so much?’ Frankie added.

‘I don’t know if I made a conscious decision, but it stuck in my mind that I would never drink or do anything.’

Towards the end of the conversation, the actor jokingly said, “But now I’m 38 and I think I’m going to start tonight. No, I’m joking.’

Muniz has dealt with health issues over the years, including nine concussions and mini-strokes that he recently revealed were migraine auras after an official diagnosis.

He also suffered several injuries during his time as a professional racing driver, including a broken back.

The star notably put his Hollywood career aside to focus on race car driving, and was also briefly the drummer for the band You Hang Up from 2012 to 2014.

Earlier this year, in January, Frankie opened up about his different interests in life during a conversation CNBC brand, and stated that he wants to “live the most fulfilled life I can.”

‘I always felt like I was running out of time. Even when I was a kid, I felt like I had to take advantage of the opportunity to do things.”

During the recent podcast episode with Bialik, Muniz also discussed the possibility of a Malcolm In The Middle reboot.

He explained that Bryan Cranston – who played his on-screen father in the hit series – has been working with two writers to put together a script for a few years.

“I would love it,” he said of being part of a potential reboot. “I have a greater appreciation for what the show is and was and would love to dive into it again with all those people… to do it.”

But he said the restart “has to make sense” and “must be good.”

Earlier this year in June, a source told DailyMail.com that Frankie is “100 percent ready” for “any kind of reunion” when it comes to the sitcom – which aired from 2000 to 2006.

“It’s such an important part of his life, so it would be great to get back to it and do something fun and see everyone again.”

Cranston previously expressed curiosity about where the family would be now and Muniz “shares Bryan’s thoughts” and “has his own ideas and really hopes that it works out and that they can do something eventually.”

“He thinks it would be great to have something for the 25th anniversary,” the insider added. ‘Whether it’s something [like] Friends did that, a movie or a complete reboot. If the idea is great, it would be a no-brainer.”
