Mama June Shannon shares update after daughter Anna Cardwell’s death

Mama June Shannon talks about the loss of her eldest daughter, Anna Cardwell.

“My mind is so emotional and mentally set right now,” Shannon, 44, shared social media video on Monday, December 11. “It’s so quiet here, the machines aren’t running, [Anna’s] I’m not sitting here watching cooking shows, and it’s just so quiet. The chair she was sitting in has no one sitting in it at the moment because it has a blanket and pillow in it that she was using, and that’s where she died.

Shannon revealed via Instagram Cardwell passed away on Sunday, December 10, at the age of 29. News broke in March that Cardwell was diagnosed with stage IV cancer, and Shannon announced in July that her daughter’s cancer was terminal.

“She passed away peacefully at my home last night at 11:12 p.m. She fought mightily for ten months. She died with her family around her, as she will not. We will update you all with more information as we get it today,” Shannon wrote on Sunday alongside a family photo with daughters. Jessica27, Lauryn23, and Alana18. Her husband, Justin Stroudand Anna’s husband, Eldridge Toneywere also in the photo.

Cardwell is survived by daughters Kaitlyn, 11, whose father’s identity is not publicly known, and Kylee, 8, whom she shared with her ex-husband Michael Cardwell.

Shannon noted Monday that it was Anna’s wish to have her memorial streamed live to fans via TikTok, but instead the family will “open” the service to the public.

“Bee [the] White Columns Funeral Home in Gordon, Georgia, we will have you all come for visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM,” she shared. “Her service will take place at 3 o’clock… it will be a short but wonderful service.”

The service will “so much of [Anna’s] songs” and a performance of her favorite dance by her family. Shannon then asked for help getting her daughter’s TikTok account to 1 million followers before the funeral service on Wednesday, December 13.

“We’re just going to celebrate Anna’s life and do it the way she wanted to: go out with a bang,” Shannon concluded. “We love you and hopefully we’ll see some of you there.”

After her sister’s death, Alana posted an emotional tribute via Instagram. “This is a post I wish I didn’t have to make 💔,” the Toddlers & Tiaras alum began in her lengthy post. “Last night we all surrounded Anna with love and let her know it was okay to go. Sadly, Anna breathed her last around 11pm.”

Calling Anna a “fighter,” Alana added, “Lord, please wrap your arms around her two babies and our family as this will all become a reality in the coming days 🥹. I’m so glad you waited until I got home to take your last breath! I would have loved for you to see me graduate, but I know you will cheer me on forever in heaven! We will all ensure that your legacy lives on forever. And I promise to always make sure we celebrate our anniversary as if you never left!”
