Shocking footage has captured the moment a man was tasered twice by police after allegedly calling triple zero and saying he had shot two people dead.

NSW Police were called to Gannon Street, in Tempe in Sydney's west, just before 9am on Saturday by a 52-year-old man who claimed he had fired gunshots.

Police officers, including special operations officers, and the dog brigade arrived on the scene and closed off part of the street, while Pol Air monitored the situation from above.

The 52-year-old, who was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, was filmed marching towards two female police officers while swearing at a nearby cameraman.

“Put the damn camera down, you son of a bitch!” he screamed.

The officers shouted at the man to get on the ground, but he refused, shouting 'go f**k yourself' and continuing to charge towards them.

A female officer then fired her Taser twice at the man's torso, causing him to fall to the ground.

The officers were restraining the man when two male officers from the dog brigade and special operations rushed over and ordered the camera crew who were filming to leave.

One of the male officers repeatedly told the man to “stop messing around” as he continued to shout insults.

The 52-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the man was tasered for failing to comply with the officer's commands.

“The man allegedly ignored a police instruction and a Taser was used to influence his arrest,” the spokesperson said.

'He was checked at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital for assessment.'

A spokeswoman for the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District told Daily Mail the man was currently in hospital in a stable condition.

Police have since determined that no gunshots were fired and no one was injured.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
