The MEAN GIRLS adaptation of a musical film is officially a go-to maker Tina Fey is ready to bring even more pink to the big screen.
“I’m really excited to take Mean girls back to the big screen,” Fey said in a statement Poster in January 2020. “It has been incredibly satisfying to see how much the film and musical have meant to audiences.”
Fey wrote the 2004 film Mean girlswho played a leading role Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron), Rachel mcadams (Regina George), Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith) and Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners). Fey, for her part, played teacher Mrs. Norbury in the comedy alongside an old friend Amy Poehler as Mrs. George, Jonathan Bennett as Aaron Samuels, Lizzy Caplan as Janice Ian and Daniel Franzese as Damien.
Fey brought the hit film to Broadway in 2018 and is bringing the music production back to theaters with an all-new film – and some familiar faces. René Rapp plays Queen B, Regina George, in the upcoming film after previously playing the role on Broadway.
“We have a great cast,” Fey said during a February 2023 performance Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I’m super excited about the cast.”
