And if a buyer is found willing to put down the huge sum, it could become the most expensive piece of real estate Soil.

Nestled on a peninsula in Naples' wealthy Port Royal neighborhood, the estate sits on a gated property overlooking the windswept sea.

Spread over 2,613,600 m² of lush greenery, currently Gordon Pointe functions three luxurious mansions: a main house of 11,500 m², a house of 5,500 m² and a residence of 5,800 m².

The property has beach frontage with water on three sides, three of which are enormous swimming swimming pools – and a huge one hunt beaks.

And if you want to have even more outdoor fun, there is a dock for about six 35-meter boats.

The estate is within walking distance of everything Naples has to offer, including shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife.

And whoever ultimately purchases the lavish estate will receive “instant membership to the Port Royal Club,” according to the listing website.

Gordon Pointe's current vendors are relatives of the late financier John Donahue and his wife Rhodora Wall Street Journal reports.

According to family history, Donahue was flying over Naples in the 1980s when he saw the inhabited island on which the mansion currently sits – and decided to buy the land.

Interestingly, in 1985 he paid just £800,000 for the 4.3 hectare site which had nothing but a fisherman's cottage surrounded by mangroves.

Over the years he continued to buy up the surrounding land, ending up with nearly 60 acres in the gated Port Royal community of Naples.

Now the late couple's 13 children and 84 grandchildren are saying goodbye to part of the family's prized estate, which also includes the three homes.

“We all enjoyed it, but it's kind of time to move on,” John and Rhodora's son Bill Donahue told the media.

A slew of notable guests have visited the Donahues at their coastal oasis, including former President George HW Bush and Barbara Bush.

“We nicknamed the room they stayed in the Presidential Suite,” Bill added.
