Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with an old Hindi saying. 'Meri billi mujhse miauw' (my cat is meowing at me now), the Congress president said while addressing a public meeting in Nagaon.

“The cat that once belonged to the Congress is now meowing at us,” Kharge said in an apparent joke to Sarma, who left the old party in 2015 and joined the BJP.

Sarma 'chela' of Modi

Kharge alleged that the alleged 'attacks' on Congress' Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam were carried out at the behest of Sarma, who is acting at the behest of the BJP high command, and called the Assam CM a 'chela' (disciple). from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will cross fifteen states. The yatra for the same was undertaken from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. There was no pelting of stones anywhere at that time. No attempts were made to scare us. Why is this happening in Assam? Because he (Assam CM) is PM Modi's 'chela',” Kharge said at the meeting in Nagaon.

The Congress chief also alleged that Himanta has the habit of scaring Dalits, minorities and backward classes in the country. His comments came after the Congress alleged that its vehicles were attacked by BJP workers in parts of Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

“He (Sarma) listens to what Shah says. He is scaring the Dalits, minorities and backward classes of the country. By scaring people, he is working for the next elections,” Kharge alleged.

Ramesh claims that the vehicle was attacked by BJP men

Earlier, AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said his vehicle was attacked by some BJP protesters but he maintained his composure and continued driving.

“My vehicle was attacked a few minutes ago in Jumugurihat, Sunitpur, by an unruly BJP mob who also tore the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stickers from the windshield. They threw water and shouted anti-BJNY (Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra) slogans,” he said.

“But we stayed calm, waved at the hooligans and ran away. This is undoubtedly the work of the Assam CM. We will not be intimidated and will continue,” Ramesh said.

Sharing an alleged video of the alleged “attack” on the official X-handle, the Congress said Ramesh's car was stopped by “BJP goons” during the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Assam. The alleged BJP workers then tore the Nyay Yatra sticker from the car and also attacked the cameraman and other members of the Congress social media team, including women, the party alleged.

The Congress said the 'goons' were carrying a BJP flag in their hands and “it is clear that this incident happened directly on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Assam.”

“The success of 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' has given BJP sleepless nights. They are scared and nervous. This is why they have resorted to such cowardly acts,” the old party alleged.

“But we are not afraid of these jackals. No power can stop this journey. 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' continues. The right to justice until it is received,” the report said.

Nyay Yatra 'attacked' in Assam

On Saturday, the Congress had leveled similar allegations and claimed that the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' convoy was attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 'goons' in Lakhimpur in Assam.

Party chief Kharge stated that Congress will take “appropriate legal action” against the “BJP goons”.

Rahul Gandhi resumed the second leg of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam by re-entering the state from the Rajgarh-Hollongi border (Assam-Arunachal Pradesh) on Sunday, the eighth day of his trip.
