People get reggae! Glamorous Sabrina Elba joins actresses Lashana Lynch and Umi Myers at UK premiere of their latest film Bob Marley: One Love

Sabrina Elba led the arrivals at the UK premiere of Bob Marley: One Love at the BFI IMAX in London on Tuesday.

The model, 34, joined leading star Lashana Lynch, who plays Rita Marley and actress Umi Myers, who stars as Cindy Breakspeare in the upcoming film. 

Sabrina, 34, exuded elegance in a black slip dress with a luxurious fur coat, that she draped loosely over her shoulders. 

She styled her hair into curls and accessorised her look with some chunky silver jewellery. 

Lashana, 36, stood out in a voluminous green and gold gown with a plunging neckline and puff sleeves.

Meanwhile, Umi looked sensational in strapless gown, with silver detailing around the neckline and a pair of lace-up stilettos. 

Joining his wife Sabrina, Idris, 51, made a statement in a pastel coloured trench coat that featured a wavy pattern and a pair of khaki trousers. 

The film which is fronted by Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob Marley is set for release February 16. 

The leading man, 37, looked smart in a double breasted blazer and gave his co-star Lashana a kiss on the cheek as he joined her on the red carpet.

Elsewhere, Montana Brown, 28, wore a plunging black blazer with a mesh bralet and matching flared trousers.

She teamed the patterned satin number with a pair of metallic heels and styled her hair into bouncy curls. 

Loose Women panelist Charlene White, 43, stood out in an abstract black and white two-piece, consisting of a shirt and loose trousers. 

Meanwhile, Michelle Heaton opted for an electric blue, knee-length pencil dress that she teamed with some red studded stilettos. 

Bob Marley: One Love’s new trailer was released in December giving a glimpse at what viewers can expect from the upcoming biopic.

The film – released on February 14, 2024 – stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, 37, as the legendary musician and Lashana as his wife Rita.

The dramatic full trailer set up Marley’s rise to fame in Jamaica as a reggae star with his band, the Wailers.

It then gave a glimpse at the 1976 shooting at his home and his subsequent performance at a Jamaican peace concert. 

‘No guns can stop this message,’ Ben-Adir’s Marley said in the clip, over the iconic song Three Little Birds.

The film synopsis reads: ‘Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity. 

‘On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.’

Marley died in 1981 at the age of just 36 from cancer.

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green from a screenplay by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter, the teaser also showed scenes of Marley relaxing with his family and playing them music.

Along with Ben-Adir and Lynch, the film’s cast also includes James Norton, Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers and Nadine Marshall.

Production on the shoot began in December 2022 in London, England, and wrapped this spring.

Bob Marley pioneered the reggae music genre by incorporating elements of ska and rocksteady to create his own form of world music that he considered to be ‘for the people.’

During his illustrious career, Marley recorded 13 studio albums, beginning with The Wailing Wailers (1965), and ending with Confrontation (1983), which was the only album to be released posthumously.

Among his many scores of classic hits are Redemption Song, One Love, Could You Be Loved, Exodus, No Woman No Cry, Is This Love, and Jamming.

Last year, Ziggy Marley, 54, Bob’s oldest son, took to Instagram to speak on the forthcoming biopic.

Sharing a promotional image with his 1.4 million followers, he began a lengthy caption, ‘Tomorrow is the release of the first official trailer for the @bobmarley @onelovemovie.

‘Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming next month.

‘You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became,’ he teased.

He added, ‘Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and starring Kingsley Ben Adir as Bob with Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita, this film will bring you to witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain his sorrows, his joys and his redemption.’

The note continued: ‘Filmed in England and Jamaica, the cast and crew represents one of the most unique creation to ever come out of a Hollywood studio.

‘Authenticity fills the screen with numerous Jamaican actors doing us proud in representing the culture.’

Bob’s firstborn son noted that the movie was ‘filmed at the actual places where Bob walked, played football and sang like Trench Town and Bull bay in Kingston.’

He said it is ‘an artistic creation that we are proud of and want you to enjoy to be entertained but also to be inspired. 

‘The family produced it with Paramount studio and for us it represents the continuation of Bob’s message and growth.’

Ziggy went on to share: ‘With this release we look forward to inspiring not only the long time fans but also the younger generation, giving them a vehicle that opens the door to explore Bob’s life and music and in so doing expand his universal message of unification, justice and peace throughout the earth.

‘We do this with purpose and are delighted to share with you the trailer for Bob Marley One Love the movie. RASTAFARI.’

While on stage at CinemaCon 2023 this past April, Ziggy promised that the biopic will help people ‘deepen their connection to Bob and honor Bob in the right way.’
