MORRISONS has launched a massive change that threatens to make it better than Aldi and Lidl.

Britain’s fifth-largest supermarket chain could soon be on the verge of moving up the ranks after announcing the decision to match the price of hundreds of products with those of its German rivals.

This means that a number of lines will drop in price and become even more affordable for shoppers and Brits in general.

Aldi and Lidl are considered the two cheapest supermarkets in Britain, but Morrisons is now trying to gain ground on the pair by offering certain items at the same price or lower than its budget competitors.

The products included range from cereal, tinned tomatoes, baby wipes, rice and bread, to household cleaning products and toilet rolls.

There will now be new signage in stores to indicate which products are included.

Morrisons also says it checks prices twice a week and adjusts if necessary.

The initiative, which aims to win back customers, has been praised and described as ‘brilliant’ by many loyal shoppers.

“This is great for me,” said one. “I love Aldi, but I can’t run a full store there because I buy too many things they don’t sell.

“Having a price match might help me a little.”

A second added: “I’ll definitely be taking advantage of the savings. Thanks.”

A third commented: “Excellent, well done.”

It comes as Morrisons has slashed the price of Cadbury and Nestle Easter eggs to just £2 to keep shoppers buzzing.

Chains have been stocking their shelves with treats as the big day approaches, and a price war has already begun.

And supermarket shoppers have also been rushing to the checkout to buy a cheap gadget that promises to lower your energy bill.

For just €7, you can say goodbye to expensive cooking in the oven.
