While many mothers would do everything they can to protect their children from drug use, one mother has admitted to openly educating her children about marijuana.
Caitlin Fladager, 30, lives in Vancouver, Canada, where recreational and medical marijuana use is legal.
The mother-of-two takes the drug, which is class B in Britain, regularly and says she does not hide it from her children.
Caitlin claims that weed actually makes her a better parent to her son and daughter, but makes sure to keep her marijuana habit out of reach of her children.
In a recent video shared about her Instagram accountthe mother explained the precautions she has taken in her home.
In the clip, her son is seen checking the labels on his snacks to make sure they don't contain marijuana before eating.
The mother also showed off the separate living room she has in her garage, where she goes to smoke so she doesn't do it at home, and air fresheners to keep the smell from affecting her pets or children.
In her caption, Caitlin also explained the benefit of educating her children about the drug.
She wrote: “YES, I'm a mom who tells 🍃 and her 8 and 10 year old about it. I don't hide it.
“I have always been honest and open with them about how much it has helped me and their father.
“They are very knowledgeable about the dangers of accidentally eating them, so that's why they always check the candy wrappers no matter what they look like, even though I keep ours locked and far away where they can never get them.
“I've always been open to the fact that normal candy can look the same.”
Caitlin has previously been honest about how she uses cannabis to ease her anxiety. The mother says her children call it “mommy's little helper” on her “tough days.”
She said smoking weed actually improves her parenting style.
Caitlin became pregnant by her high school sweetheart Noah when she was 18 years old and the married couple now have two children, Adriana and Jack.
