A 12-year-old girl who has been missing on the Sunshine Coast for two days has been found by her relieved family after a massive search.

Mya Baker was last seen leaving a property along Cape Street, in Birtinya on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, about 6.45pm on Wednesday and has not made contact with family since.

However, on Friday evening, delighted relatives confirmed to police that they had finally tracked her down.

Queensland Police said Maya had been found safe and well at around 3.30pm on Friday afternoon.

Queensland Police have said 12-year-old girl Mya Baker, who went missing on Wednesday evening, has now been found safe.

Mya left her home on Wednesday evening without a wallet or shoes and the young girl does not have a mobile phone, making her unreachable.

Her brother went to check on her sister in Birtinya Park about 20 minutes after she went missing, but discovered she was gone.

Mya’s family reported the young girl missing to police on Wednesday evening around 8:30 p.m.

Sunshine Coast Detective Inspector Chris Toohey told reporters at a press conference on Friday that police are deeply concerned for Mya’s welfare.

Inspector Toohey said officers were told it was the first time Mya had spent the night away from her family without informing her loved ones.

There were also concerns about her welfare due to her young age.
