Natalie now lives in Paris and recently shared that living part-time in Los Angeles isn’t that bad for her because of the choices she’s made.

Speak with Vanity fair, she explained, “I live a very non-Hollywood life in LA. I live on the Eastside.

“I have some friends who are in the entertainment industry, but a lot of friends who aren’t, and we don’t do industry stuff when we hang out.

‘We don’t go to Hollywood parties, we eat at home in the backyard. I actually found that living there made my experience of LA much less ‘Hollywood.’

Natalie said that if she did come to visit, it would just be for work, and [she’d] stay somewhere in Beverly Hills, and… hold industry meetings and go to industry parties.”

She added: ‘Living there made my experience much more complete and gave me a greater appreciation for everything the city has to offer, from nature to art, food to music and of course the people.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Natalie was asked how she felt about her marriage to husband Benjamin Millepied being written about.

She admitted, “It’s horrible, and I don’t feel like contributing to it,” to writer Keziah Weir, who responded that it wasn’t much fun having to ask the question.

Natalie and Benjamin married in 2012 after meeting on the set of Black Swan and welcomed two children, son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, six.

The actress has yet to make any public comment about her divorce from her husband after it was alleged he cheated on her with another woman.

In a January WSJ interviewshe talked about living in Paris with her kids, but made no mention of Benjamin, which was the biggest hint yet that they no longer live together.

The Thor: Love and Thunder star also said in her Vanity Fair interview that she has been careful to protect her privacy.

She said: ‘I became very protective of it very early on. I chose a different name when I started, which was an interesting way to separate identities.

‘I would be angry if someone at school called me Natalie Portman. I thought, if you know me, you know me as Natalie Hershlag at school.”

Natalie said she was dealing with what she described as a ‘kind of extreme dichotomy of identity’ [she’s] tried to integrate a little more as an adult.

‘I felt like I wasn’t accepting that both were part of me, that there wasn’t a ‘real’ me and a ‘make-believe me’, and that they didn’t necessarily have different names.

“And it’s not just two different versions, there are countless ways that other people see me, both publicly and privately, and there are countless ways that I see myself.”

She said she was eventually able to connect things and things changed in her life when she started having “kids and a family.”

She said: ‘Somehow the intersections of all these things are part of me, and it is important to have them all within me and because, instead of thinking that this is something external, I see the real is work.

‘I started to realize that it might not be useful to say: there are two of me. I have a lot of interactions during my day as a public person. Excluding that from my experience is not realistic.’
