Her new caretaker explained that while Kit was hesitant at first, it only took a few days to get to know her new environment and her three “fur brothers and sisters.”

“She loves to follow them, wagging her tail… think they help her feel safe,” added Lindsay.

Now Kit enjoys rolling in the grass and playing ball.

The pup’s new owner also revealed that she had to have all of her front teeth pulled because they were worn down when she was found, making for “the most perfect gummy smile.”

Lindsay documented Kit’s journey in a beautiful clip Instagram.

“POV: Your new rescue dog can’t stop smiling now that she’s home,” she wrote in a montage of her growing confidence, starting with a nervous grin from her bed to beaming excitedly by the pool.

Although she is shy, it is clear that Kit is becoming more and more open to affection as she can be seen gently offering Lindsay a friendly paw.

The video has more than 944,000 likes and thousands of comments expressing their shock that animals could face such mistreatment.

“Poor thing looks like she’s been abused or beaten a lot, hence the nervous eyes at the beginning,” one wrote. “Thanks for rescuing!”

“How can someone give that to an asylum?” asked for a second.

“The way some animals are abandoned, mistreated and thrown away breaks my heart,” commented a third.

“I’ll never really understand how a human being can do that to another living being, it’s just scum…”

In another post on social media from last month, Linsday added that she still misses a lot of hair due to a “chronic yeast infection that she’s probably had for years.”

But she is now “on the mend” thanks to antibiotics, antifungals and daily baths.

“We can’t wait to help her heal from the inside out and see her continue to thrive,” she wrote in the heartfelt caption.

“Welcome to the Kit Kat family, we love you.”
