PRICE hike after price hike has turned many off Netflix and other mainstream streaming apps.

And most people can't look past the big six apps that dominate the streaming world: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Apple TV, Now and Paramount – but they're missing something.

Aftersun, starring Paul Mescal, is currently available to stream on MubiCredit: Mubi

There are several high-quality streaming apps to try, and some are even free.

And if you're tired of scrolling through the same movies in regular apps, you'll have to take it a step further.

That's where Mubi steps in.

Mubi is a streaming service that specializes in indie, arthouse films that make it to film festivals.

It will feature films you won't find on its major rivals.

As Mubi puts it: “We believe that cinema should be viewed on screens of all shapes and sizes.

“Our curators scour film festivals looking for the most exciting and original new films, which we bring to the big screen with the same care and attention we give to our curated platform.”

And viewers love it.

On HotUKDeals – where the current range is advertised – one viewer wrote: “I highly recommend Mubi. It does have some mainstream films, but generally specializes in classics, indies, foreign films, critically acclaimed.

“Titles you might not find on Netflix, Prime, etc.

“You can also create a watchlist, and (correct me if I'm wrong) lists of titles, lists of favorite actors, directors, and other crew members as well.”

Another said they “can't recommend MUBI enough” and called it “the best streaming service for movies.”

A third person even said that they “got rid of Netflix a long time ago and started this service, which is great.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Been around for a few years. Steadily improving over time, so far in my opinion it's the #1 service for streaming movies from around the world.”

What is going on?

Mubi has just revived a promotional deal for both new and previous subscribers: three months for just £1.

The offer launched on February 2 and it's unclear how long it will last.

In 2022, Mubi discontinued the offer after just 10 days, so you may have to act quickly.

As with most free or limited-time trials, you'll need to enter your card details when you sign up for the offer.

The subscription is automatically renewed for €10.99 per month.

The Mubi app is available to view on these platforms:

  • All iOS devices – iPhones and iPads
  • Android devices
  • Fire TVs and Fire Sticks
  • Roku
  • AppleTV
  • PS4
  • Selected smart TVs

MUBI is also supported in any web browser, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast.
