NEWCASTLE United fans are most likely to strip down and go bare-chested to matches in winter, a poll has found.
A shocking seven percent of the Toon faithful said they had stripped off in all weathers to show their passionate support for the team.
The trend of fans stripping down to the waist even in freezing weather has continued in the Premier League.
A total of four percent of fans said they did it in the heat of the moment to show their passion.
But a further nine percent said they had been tempted to do so but didn't want to be seen on TV by family and friends.
Arsenal fans are the least likely to strip down in the Premier League; less than one percent say they have done so.
Wedsite freebets.com asked 2,000 Premier League fans if they ever took off their top during a match.
Spokesman Tim Agnew said: “You can understand why fans will strip naked when the season starts at the end of summer to top up their tan.
“But we were curious how many fans do that in the middle of winter when the temperature fluctuates around freezing.
“It seems like it's one of those crazy trends that has affected some fans, especially Newcastle fans, more than others.”
Sheffield United fans are the next most likely to brave the cold, with six percent going bare-chested, followed by fans of Nottingham Forest, Everton and Burnley in joint third place with five percent.
In joint fourth place at four percent were Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa.
Fans of Liverpool, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace finished joint fifth with three percent, while fans of Fulham, Brentford, Brighton and Luton Town were in sixth place with two percent.
Only one percent of Arsenal fans say they have stripped off during a winter match, making them the least likely to show their naked passion for their club.
