Noir Nightclub Sydney complained about anti-social patrons on Oxford Street

Furious partygoers have demanded that one of Sydney’s trendiest clubs shut down after alleging misbehaved patrons in queue terrorize passersby at weekends.

Located in the heart of the city’s gay community on Oxford Street, Noir has been criticized for its patrons making the street feel ‘unsafe’ for gay people as it has a predominantly heterosexual clientele.

The “hedonistic” nightclub, which opened in January, acknowledged the complaints on Wednesday when management posted a “promise” to stamp out anti-social behaviour.

But activist and “Glitter King” Kevin Kaila said the promise is only “halfway through.”

“I wish they had spoken to where they are and respected that,” he told FEMAIL.

Kevin was shocked by stories of harassment and abuse from Noir’s clients, but had never experienced it first hand until recently.

That all changed over King’s Birthday weekend when Kevin walked past a group of fifty people queuing and “hanging out” outside the exclusive venue.

He said he was yelled at, belittled and attacked – with someone throwing food at him as he walked from Stonewall to another club.

“I have never felt so humiliated, insulted, scared, frustrated and angry in the thousand times I’ve been to Oxford Street,” Kevin wrote.

And though he’s thick-skinned, he’s concerned for his community, who’ve come to know Oxford Street as a safe place.

“You’re actively bringing aggressive and homophobic clients to the heart of the queer community and I don’t think you’re bothered by that,” he added in the letter.

He said he was subjected to physical and verbal abuse

Kevin wrote an open letter to raise awareness and call for action against the antisocial behavior

Kevin’s viral post drew hundreds of comments, with some blaming the security firm for allowing the anti-social behavior.

Imogen Anthony, the model ex-girlfriend of radio host Kyle Sandilands, claimed she had to beg security to let her queer friends in when she hosted a party there.

“It’s not the club’s fault, the owner himself, Ronnie, is very nice and I share friends with him,” she wrote.

Others think that “straight” venues should be banned from opening on the strip.

One petition has garnered nearly 1,000 signatures following the most recent incidents. The writer recorded the disturbing moments they have witnessed between the gay community and Noir’s clients.

“Just two weeks ago I personally witnessed two queer men kissing in front of my venue where a group of men from Noir Sydney nightclub walked by and started shouting homophobic things at these queer men,” they said.

Daily Mail Australia has previously reported on issues between the community and Noir – with security criticized for shaming a trans woman for using the female toilets.

In their statement, Noir’s management pledged to “rectify and eradicate” any form of anti-social behavior.

“And ensure the safety of everyone on the street, regardless of race, sex, color or creed,” it continued.

“We believe in equality for all and will tolerate no less for anyone in or around our community.”

It is not suggested that Noir’s owner and management condone homophobic behavior of the club’s patrons
