A WOMAN mistaken for being in her 20s has revealed how shocked people are when she tells them her real age.

Nikki Ellis, from Melbourne, Australia, has an athletic figure that most of us would kill for and long golden locks, so you'd be forgiven for thinking she was in her twenties or thirties.

However, the fitness coach is decades older and almost 60 years old.

The mother-of-two told Australian news channel news.com.au: “I am preparing to celebrate my 58th birthday this year.

“Most people just assume I'm in my early thirties. In fact, I've had 29 already.

Nikki, who owns a fitness studio in her hometown, has always had a keen interest in working out, which she says has helped her maintain her impressive physique.

Growing up, Nikki's father was an athlete and her mother battled a chronic illness, which helped reinforce the importance of taking care of your body.

Nikki's favorite training method is lifting weights and building muscle strength. On a normal day, she gets up before sunrise to teach training and spinning classes.

The personal trainer usually goes to the gym four to five days a week and walks her dogs every afternoon, which helps her reach her 10,000 points. steps one day goal.

The fitness professional does not adhere to a strict diet, but tries to ensure that all her meals are healthy.

She said: “My training focus is very muscle-oriented. This means I prioritize strength training over my other training modalities,” she said.

“I avoid sitting for long periods of time periods time and stick to the classic rule of thumb of ten thousand steps per day. Sometimes I don't quite make it, but that's the goal.

“I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and aim to eat 100 grams of protein every day. I like to eat whole grains and some healthy fat.

“My goal is a diet that will keep me healthy for as long as possible without feeling restrictive at all, and I want to feel nourished, satiated and enjoy food.”

Nikki has shared her best tips for staying young.

She always drinks a lot of water and doesn't drink alcohol, which she says has helped her look young.

She also wears sunscreen every day and wears large hats to protect herself from the sun's UV rays.

Nikki said she understands that older women can find it difficult to gain the confidence to get back into fitness.

  4. Walk as much as possible
  5. Have fun and love people

However, she shared some advice for those planning to try it out.

She said, “If you can, find a place where you feel comfortable,” she said.

“Even now, some public gyms don't make people feel as welcome, whether you're a young person, a woman or an older person, it can be very intimidating.

“So go to a few gyms and just get shown around, ask questions and see how you feel.

“Many gyms offer programs for older adults, but remember you want to get strong and maintain or build muscle, so look for studios that already have some epic older rollers modelsand they lift quite a bit of weight.”
