People are only now realizing what Elmlea is actually made of and it’s baffling them.
Jade Stanley, from Lancashire, who posts on TikTok as @northern_jadetook to the social media platform to admit that she is shocked that she only discovered what Elmlea is at the age of 32.
In a clip, which has been viewed more than 180,000 times, she revealed that Elmlea Double is not really cream.
When you look at the ingredients, you might be surprised to learn that it consists of buttermilk, vegetable oils, lactose, emulsifiers and stabilizers.
She muttered, “I am deeply shocked and saddened to let you all know that this,” holding up the product, she added, “is not a cream.” Not at all.
‘There’s not even a tiny bit of cream in it. There’s not even a little bit of cream in it. I’ll tell you what’s in here. It is made from a mixture of buttermilk and vegetable oils. A wonderfully creamy taste – no cream. My life has been a lie.”
Many people rushed to the comments, equally shocked by the revelation.
One person said: ‘I just noticed it says Alternative to Cream, 32 years old and I never knew it.’
Another said: ‘Well, every day is a school day! 39 years old and just learned this today.”

However, others claimed they already knew the product was not a cream and were baffled that some did not.
