Phoebe Waller-Bridge reveals expletive-laden technique she uses to overcome stage fright after learning method from a celebrity co-star

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has revealed the crass technique she uses to overcome stage fright.

The actress, 37, shared how she was once overwhelmed with nerves ahead of a performance and a co-star gave her a unique tip to put an end to her troubles.

These days, she’s confident when it comes to performing and this month she’ll be making her screen debut as Helena Shaw in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

About her unique technique, the Fleabag star explained to the Mirror: ‘I suddenly got stage fright. And this great actor could see that I was getting nervous.

“He took me outside (behind the curtain) and I could hear the buzz of the audience.

He said, “This is what you do when you’re scared. You stand behind the curtain, take a deep breath and you just say, F**k you, you’re lucky to have me. And you say it as loud as you can and we did every night. Sometimes it feels great to do that.”

It comes after Phoebe’s movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny emerged could have a very impressive opening weekend at the box office when it comes out on the 4th of July weekend in America.

The sequel looks like it could bring in a whopping $70 million (£55.7 million) over the time frame that runs from June 30 to July 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This is the fifth Indiana Jones movie starring Harrison Ford. His co-star Phoebe is new to the franchise.

Also in the cast are Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen.

The film is a sequel to 2008’s Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

James Mangold is the director, picking it up after Steven Spielberg helmed the first four films.

The final trailer featured Ford, 80, in his famous hat as Indiana Jones.

And he was seen back in action, literally, riding a horse in NYC, racing a tuk-tuk, and jumping out of a burning plane while being chased by bad guys. There is also a scene with a giant rolling boulder.

Also featured was Waller-Bridge in a prominent role as Indy’s goddaughter who brings the archaeologist out of retirement.

She wants to look for a treasure that Indy says has been looking for “all my life”.

“Dad told me you found something on a train, a dial, that could change the course of history,” says Waller-Bridge, revealing exactly what the chase was all about.
