Captain Jaideep Dahiya leads Haryana Steelers to an emphatic win over Tamil Thalaivas
Haryana Steelers registered a 42-29 win over Tamil Thalaivas at the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium.
New Delhi: Haryana Steelers registered a 42-29 win over Tamil Thalaivas at the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 match on Monday. Tamil Thalaivas’ poor form at home continued as this was their fourth consecutive defeat in the season. Their only positive takeaway was left corner Sahil Gulia, who finished with 10 tackle points.
Haryana Steelers came into the match in excellent form and used the momentum to storm to a 5-1 lead. Both teams opted to play defense and the Tamil Thalaivas managed an early comeback through two SUPER TACKLES to find themselves trailing 6-7 in the 11th minute.
However, Vinay produced one of the steals of the season to put the Steelers ahead 14-7. Against a three-man defense he got past Himanshu Singh, Nitesh Kumar and a composed last gasp off Ajinkya Pawar before showing incredible backtracking skills and field awareness to get his fingers past the halfway line and deliver the ALL OUT. That raid set the tone of the first half as the Steelers went into the break up 18-12.
The Thalaivas had a poor first 20 minutes as they managed just four raid points and their top raider Narender, who was brought back into the squad for this match, was substituted.
The Steelers continued to maintain a 7-8 point lead in the second half as Shivam Patare came off the bench to take over their offense responsibilities. The Thalaivas had a golden opportunity to make a comeback in the 29th minute but Rahul Sethpal performed a SUPER TACKLE to eliminate Jatin and extend his side’s lead to 29-20. The tackle also completed Rahul’s High 5.
The Steelers were again reduced to three men – in the 31st and 33rd minutes – but the defense saved them as Rahul and Jaideep Dahiya both produced SUPER TACKLES. The Steelers led 35-22 with 5 minutes left. The Thalaivas tried their best to reduce the deficit but another SUPER TACKLE from Mohit completed the win for Manpreet Singh’s side. The 13-point winning margin marked the biggest win of the season for the Steelers.
