Prince Harry mocked rugby coach Eddie Jones’ use of private jets – despite royal family’s eco credentials

Prince Harry has again been criticized for his use of private jets, this time by rugby coach Eddie Jones.

The 38-year-old royal was mocked by the Australian rugby pro, who was watching a training session when he made the comments, according to the sun.

The Duke of Sussex also attended the session, after which he was given the chance to speak to the players as part of his former role as rugby patron for England.

Eddie, who was in charge in England between 2015 and 2022, said: ‘How is climate change going? How was Elton John’s plane?’

This involved Harry and his wife Meghan, 42, who used the musician’s private jet to fly to Nice in 2019.

In defense of the couple, who opted for the plane despite multiple commercial flights flying daily from London to the destination, Elton John said the couple needed the security.

The Sun reports that the comments were shared on the Speaking on the For the Love of Rugby podcast.

Dan Cole told teammate and host Ben Youngs: “Do you know that Prince Harry used to come over and watch us train?’

He continued: ‘There was one time he was standing there saying something to the group, and then Eddie said, “How’s climate change going, mate? How was Elton John’s plane?”.

The duo described the comment as ‘pretty good’ and laughed as Ben accused Dan of throwing both Eddie and Prince Harry under the bus.

Harry, who became patron of the England Rugby Football Union in 2016 and the Rugby Football League in 2017, lost the role when he and Meghan retired from royal life.

Both roles are now filled by Kate Middleton, who was given them by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The 2019 incident wasn’t the only time Harry and Meghan have come under fire for using private jets, despite describing themselves as environmentalists.

In November last year, the couple were branded ‘eco-hypocrites’ after flying to a Katy Perry gig on a private jet.

Harry and Meghan, along with a host of other celebrities, flew from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas on a plane owned by Texas oil heir Michael Herd.

Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden, as well as actress Zoe Saldana, flew on the Gulfstream jet on a private 40-minute flight to watch the final show of Perry’s Vegas residency.

When contacted by The Sun about Harry and Meghan’s flight, Herd said they were “just going for dinner and seeing Katy’s last show.”

He added: “They’re nice people,” and said he had no comment on the criticism of the Sussexes’ private flight because “I’m not them.”
