An Australian woman has made the bold claim that she too was given the opportunity to become Queen of Denmark and was present the night Mary met her current husband, King Frederick X.

Fiona, from Maroubra, New South Wales, claimed she was at the Slip Inn in September 2000 when she was approached by two 'guys in suits' who said their friend was a prince and was interested in meeting her.

She said she turned down the offer to meet the prince because she was happily engaged at the time, and insists she has no regrets about missing the chance to meet Frederik.

Speaking of Nova 96.9's Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie During the show, Fiona said she was 'having a good time' at the bar before men came to stand next to her.

'I have to admit I did a good job cleaning up that evening. Two guys in suits came up to me and said, 'There's a guy over there who wants to meet you,'” she recalled.

“I looked at him and he was kind of far away. I said, 'Yes, that's nice, but not interested,' because I was engaged at the time and I was happy.”

The men 'insisted' that Fiona give their friend a chance, but she again refused.

“They came back about ten minutes later and said, 'He's actually a prince and he wants to meet you,'” she claimed.

Co-host Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald was shocked that the men “dropped the prince line” on Fiona.

“I showed them my engagement ring and said, 'Sorry, that's not going to happen!'” she continued.

'If I date a prince, it will be a bloody nightmare. Yeah, I don't think so.'

Wippa asked if Fiona regretted not taking her engagement ring off her finger and having a chat with Frederik.

Fiona insisted she had no regrets, even though she has since 'left' the man she was going to marry.

“You didn't marry him and passed on Frederik?” Wippa laughed before ending the call.
