The royal, 50, showed off her style credentials in the smart white cape dress with a green floral print for the Founder’s Day ceremony.

The royal couple stepped out to celebrate the founding of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, which has taken place almost every year since the hospital opened in 1692 and is more commonly known as Founder’s Day.

The ceremony was attended by all Chelsea Pensioners to celebrate the founding of the Royal Hospital by King Charles II.

The mother of four completed her outfit with green heels and a matching clutch.

Her Majesty, the first queen consort of Belgian nationality, wore her blond locks pinned up under a chic green hat.

Meanwhile, King Philippe, a distant cousin of the Queen, opted for a military uniform.

The Royal Family will perform the duties of Reviewing Officer for the Founder’s Day ceremony.

The Founders Day of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, also known as Oak Apple Day, is a nod to King Charles II’s escape after the Battle of Worcester – when he hid in an oak tree to avoid capture by the Parliamentarian forces.

The symbol of the oak is reflected in all Chelsea Pensioners wearing oak leaves on their famous scarlet uniforms.

It comes after King Philippe and his wife paid their respects to the late monarch at Westminster Hall last September.

King Philippe and the Queen share several common ancestors, including Franz, the Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, who was the grandfather of Queen Victoria and the father of King Leopold I of the Belgians.

The Belgian royal couple appeared with somber expressions as they visited the Queen’s coffin in her Reclining.

They are also related through King Christian IX of Denmark, known as the ‘Grandfather of Europe’ for his far-reaching pedigree.

The Queen is the great-great-granddaughter of King Christian IX. Philippe is his great-great-great-grandson.

In a statement released shortly after the Queen’s death, the couple said: “[The Queen] was an extraordinary personality.
