Mumbai: In a rare move, legendary Sachin Tendulkar was caught shaking a leg with film superstars Akshay Kumar and Ramcharan at the opening ceremony of the inaugural Indian Street Premier League in Thane on Wednesday. Saif Ali Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Suriya were other superstars who were also present at the star-studded event.

Tendulkar, the brand ambassador of the Indian Street Premier League, danced to the famous song ‘Naatu-Naatu’ from the film RRR, which also won the prestigious Oscar for Best Original Song. To mark the opening of the tournament, a cricket match was also played on that day.

Akshay’s Khiladi XI played against Tendulkar’s Master’s XI. Among the cricketers, former India stars Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa and Suresh Raina were present.

Besides his dancing skills, Tendulkar also won the hearts of netizens when he invited differently-abled cricketer Amir Hussain from Jammu and Kashmir to play in the opening match of ISPL. During his recent trip to Jammu and Kashmir, Tendulkar had gifted a bat to Hussain.

However, he was dismissed by Indian comedian and rapper Munawar Faruqui as he attempted to scoop the ball to his fine leg. On the way to the offside, Tendulkar got a big top edge, with Naman Ojha making no mistake.

Earlier on Tuesday, Tendulkar stated that playing in the Ranji Trophy will give national players an opportunity to get back to basics while taking the level of the domestic tournament to the next level. His comments come after BCCI’s strong stand on the cricketers refusing to play domestic cricket.

“When players from India turn up for their domestic team, it increases the quality of play for youngsters and sometimes new talent is discovered. It also gives the national players an opportunity to rediscover the basics sometimes,” Tendulkar wrote on X.

“Throughout my career, I remained passionate about playing for Mumbai whenever I got an opportunity. Growing up, we had almost seven to eight Indian players in our dressing room and it was fun playing alongside them,” Tendulkar added.

The Master Blaster was recently seen in Jamnagar in Gujarat during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities. Not only Tendulkar but several other cricket starts from India and abroad were also present at the event.
