Jeff Lewis caused trouble on the first day of BravoCon when he hit The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Newcomer Monica García.
“Okay, I heard that. I was literally in a photo situation and the fans came up and they said, ‘Fuck Jeff Lewis for what he said about you,'” Monica, 40, exclusively shared We weekly on Friday, November 3. “And I thought, ‘What did he say?’ I’m not aware of it all.”
Jeff, 53, joined Bravo as executive producer Andy Cohen onstage in Las Vegas for his “Ask Andy” panel to talk about the TV network’s biggest shows.
“What’s Monica doing on this show?” Speaking during the Friday panel, Jeff claimed he wants to see Housewives who are inspirational. He claimed he felt “depressed” watching Monica open up about being on “food stamps” and struggling with her car payments.
Andy, 55, stood up for the RHOSLC star, who made her debut on the show this year. “Let me tell you two things about Monica. First of all, I think she came across as super strong,” he said. “In her second episode, she had a moment where she felt insecure because she didn’t have the right clothes or whatever. I thought this was one of the most relatable and powerful moments in a Housewives show.”
Monica told me Us she wasn’t bothered by Jeff’s comments – mainly because she “don’t even know who he is.”
“Who is he? I really don’t. What show is he on?” she joked Us. ‘I don’t know who he is, though. Not really.”
Besides not letting Jeff’s shadow get her down, Monica is also focusing on enjoying her first-ever BravoCon.
“It’s amazing. It’s unbelievable. Yes, it’s amazing,” she said Friday, before noting that the RHOSLC cast will not have their own panel as their season 4 reunion is happening soon. “I’m looking forward to [the] meeting. There is still a lot to be cleaned up and removed.”
One of the things she and Monica have RHOSLC costars likely to beware of is their perceived lack of support regarding her estrangement from her mother, Linda. The pair’s ups and downs have been documented all season, including a blowout fight at Costar Angie Katsanevas‘ At home.
“I mean, honestly, all of them,” she said when asked whose lack of communication disappointed her most after the season ended. “I hope that in the end there is still humanity and care for each other within the group, and yes, that would have been nice.”
Monica told me Us she “absolutely cried” after rewatching scenes of the family drama. “I don’t even remember it being that bad, which was an eye-opener for me,” she said. “And it was actually really helpful for me to be able to watch it back.”
