Rochdale boy became romantically linked to the future Queen of Belgium after the pair studied closely at Oxford
A LAD from Rochdale has been linked to the future Queen of Belgium after they came close during their history studies.
Rumor has it that Nick Dodd and Crown Princess Elisabeth started to date bee Oxford university.
Belgian media report that their relationship “transcends friendship”. One newspaper said Nick, 20, and the Duchess of Brabant get along “remarkably”.
A source added: “There was an immediate connection.”
Elisabeth – the eldest daughter of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde – becomes and meets Belgium's first female monarch Karel before his coronation.
She went to a £35,000-a-year school in Brussels, while Nick excelled at his A levels bee Rochdale Sixth form.
Outside of his school year, he lives with his mother in a £300,000 terraced house after losing his father Andrew, 44, to cancer in 2007 when he was just four.
Belgian media describe Nick as a “civilian boy”, but “probably of wealthy descent” and an “excellent choice” as a potential husband.
When he was accepted into Oxford in 2021, he said: “I wanted the opportunity to study at a world-class university.
“I encourage you to apply even if you have doubts about yourself.
“You have nothing to lose.”
Yesterday, one of Nick's relatives downplayed the rumor, saying, “They're just studying together.”
