A FAMILY sparked outrage after they advertised for a live-in babysitter for their toddlers but expected the poor soul to pay £400 for the privilege.

Renters in London were shocked by low rents in a central area, until they saw the catch.

They were expected to be available for three hours of babysitting every day from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday.

But the room in Clapham South was not available this weekend, meaning the live-in au pair was not allowed to be there unless he was looking after the children aged one and three.

Right-wing movement briefly removed the listing before the family attempted to re-upload with the edited description.

“Hello, we are an Italian family looking for a student/au pair, preferably from Monday to Friday, but we can consider a full week for the right person (respecting privacy),” said the advertisement.

“We are looking for someone who can help with babysitting regularly, 3 hours a day from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

“Our children are very sweet but very young, 1-3 years old, so we are looking for a quiet, clean and organized person/not a party person.

“You get one Room of 9m² and a bathroom especially for yourself. The family still uses another bedroom.”

An outraged childcare provider responded: “The host family accommodates their au pair (such as free housing and at least three meals a day) and pays a small fee.

“A bet that families are not registered au pair hosts and are just using the word because they heard it somewhere and liked how nice it sounds.”

Another said: “It’s criminal how much care work, an essential industry, is devalued by people like this.

“I wouldn’t ask someone to pay rent for the enjoyment I get from other work.

“Caregivers of all kinds have so many duties and it is treated as nothing important.”

The mother, ‘Carla’, soon reposted the advert, with the childcare section removed, but asked for more money, £600.

One commenter said: “She clearly regarded the £200 difference as a ‘wage’.

“This is somehow even worse (and I bet you’re left with the little angels anyway…).”
