Roseanne Barr says ‘no one died in the Holocaust’ and that ‘it MUST happen’

Roseanne Barr has been criticized for saying that “no one died in the Holocaust” and that it “should happen,” years after she was canceled for racist tweets — as her son defends her, saying she was “sarcastic.”

The controversial comedian, 70, made the remarks on a recent podcast with Theo Von, saying that “six million Jews should be dying right now because they are causing all the problems in the world.”

She has come under scrutiny for the comments, which were made in the context of comparing Holocaust deniers to electoral fraud deniers.

But other people — including her son Jake Pentland and Von herself — have doubled down and stated that she was just being sarcastic rather than anti-Semitic.

Barr, who was smoking a cigarette, said on the podcast: ‘Comics, we are the last form of free speech. And as long as we perform, it’s not as bad as it could be.’

The Jewish comedian then started about electoral fraud: ’36 provinces can give you 81 million votes. That’s a fact.’

Von looked stunned and asked, “So it wasn’t manipulated?”

To which she replied with a straight face, “Of course not. 36 provinces have 81 million inhabitants. To see? That is the truth. And don’t you dare say anything or you’ll be off YouTube, Facebook, Twitter.’

Von said, “It’s scary,” before Barr repeated, “And that’s the truth.”

And no one died in the holocaust. That is the truth. It should happen. Six million Jews should die now because they cause all the problems in the world, but they never did!

“It never happened!” she repeated.

She then went on to talk about how the Jews “control Hollywood.”

Some people have pointed out that it was indeed dry humor as she compared the denial of the Holocaust to the denial that the 2020 election was stolen. Both issues are comments you shouldn’t say online without being canceled, it is insinuated.

But regardless, the sentiments were labeled anti-Semitic, reprehensible and irresponsible by her critics.

Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, said: “Sarcasm or not, Roseanne Barr’s comments about Jews and the Holocaust are reprehensible and irresponsible. This isn’t funny.

“And too bad for Theo Von that he let it go unchallenged and delved into conspiracy theories about Jews and Hollywood instead.”

Another person said online, “Roseanne Barr is sickening. Denying the Holocaust and slaughtering 6 million people is a testament to how broken and disgusting people are. There are no words.’

A third added: “F**k her for saying this and just being who she is in general, f**k Theo Von for not immediately stopping her, f**k everyone who supports her.. this is unacceptable and wrong on every damn level.”

Another person, who appeared to be a fan of Von added, “Roseanne is just going further down the rabbit hole so I can’t say I’m disappointed as I had no expectations for that racist bag of shit but I thought at least that Theo Von would be better than this dog.’

Jake Pentland, Roseanne’s son, hit back, telling TMZ, “We’re embarrassed that people are stupid enough not to acknowledge that Roseanne is being sarcastic. We think it’s funny that people are so stupid.

“Let’s stop this clickbait s***, we need to focus on the big problems in America. Focusing on out-of-context clips is what idiots do.’

Theo Von, whose podcast was Barr, wrote on Twitter, “This clip of Roseanne Barr was sarcasm folks. An excerpt from a long sarcastic diatribe she had during our conversation.

Can’t we recognize sarcasm anymore?

Here’s the full clip of Roseanne Barr clearly using sarcasm and satire. She’s a human being and one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.’

After watching the entire clip in context, some people online said they could understand it was meant to be a joke — but still an unnecessary and unfunny joke.

One person said, “Anytime you see a clip going viral where someone looks like a monster, stop for a second and take a deep breath. Then look for the full context.

Most people aren’t monsters. Joke wasn’t funny imo [in my opinion] but of course a JOKE. Theo is a real one who sticks his neck out while the crowd thirsts for blood.’

Another adds: “Yes, it is important to show a radical statement in its full context. Barr clearly speaks with the driest dry sarcasm.

“But it also proved that she’s a silly, barely understandable nutcase. Her ‘joke’, as it is (& in context), is still deadly unfunny.”

But others still believe that, despite the alleged jokes, the situation was not okay.

Journalist Ed Krassenstein said, “To all the people defending Roseanne Barr’s remarks, ‘Nobody died in the Holocaust. It should happen. Six million Jews MUST die now because they are causing all the problems in the world.’ I don’t care if it was a joke.

“I don’t care if it was sarcasm. I don’t care if Roseanne is Jewish.

“I don’t care if Roseanne would be God. Joking about Jewish people dying in the holocaust and saying sarcastically that Jewish people must die is NOT OK.

“It never is and it never will be. PERIOD OF TIME.

“If you think so, then you need to reevaluate your sense of humor and your respect for humanity.”

Another person said, “Theo Von with a mullet head just sits there and giggles while his guest Roseanne Barr says no Jewish people died in the Holocaust, but we should wipe out 6 million Jews today….”
