A man has been arrested after the bodies of two people were found in a home in Adelaide's west.

South Australian Police were called to the property on Rosetta Street in Rosewater at 1.20pm on Saturday.

Inside, the body of a 76-year-old woman and her 55-year-old son were found with significant injuries.

Their bodies were found by the woman's daughter, who called police to report finding her brother and mother dead.

Detectives have arrested a homeless 43-year-old man who is being interviewed in connection with the deaths.

Police are not looking for any other suspects and believe the incident was not random.

Officers would not speculate on what weapon might have been used in the alleged attack, but they confirmed no firearms were used.

It is expected that the man will be charged with two murders.

The man will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Graham Goodwin claimed the 43-year-old man, who lived across the road from the house, acted in the early hours of the morning.

“The relationship between the suspect and the residents of that address is unknown,” he says.

“It is suspected that they knew each other, but we do not know at this time what that relationship was.”

Police hope to speak to anyone with information about the events leading to the deaths of the woman and her son.

'I do ask for the support of the public…' not only for today's events, but also for the events in the days leading up to these tragic circumstances,” Mr Goodwin added.

Charles Crossley, who also lives on the streets, told ABC that he couldn't fathom something like this happening on his typically quiet street.

“This street is so quiet and nothing like this has ever happened before,” he said.

More than ten police cars remain at the Rosetta Street house and forensic teams are examining the crash scene.

Anyone with dashcam footage or other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

More to come.
