From a cheeky moggy hanging from a curtain rail to a bird taking off with some toys, there’s no denying that the battle for the title of UK’s Most Mischievous Pet has been fierce this year.

Camera company Wex Photo Video was inundated with images from loving pet owners across the UK when they opened the contest earlier this year.

But after careful consideration, the judges chose a very rambunctious Great Dane as the winner.

Teddy, from Larne, Northern Ireland, won the title after his owner Chris Jordan snapped a hilarious photo of him out and about with the family.

The winning image shows the sand-colored dog running away from Chris’s partner, who is busy playing with their young daughter.

With a cheeky glint in his eye, Teddy is seen running away from his owner while carrying her navy blue sneaker in his mouth.

Chris explained, “He’s known for taking things out all over the house and claiming them as his own.

“I tried to get a picture of the family, but managed to catch him triumphantly trotting off with my wife’s shoe.

“He sure knows how to steal the show!”

As the winner of the competition, Teddy’s owner Chris receives one of the brand’s Petcube cameras, as well as a photo shoot with award-winning dog photographer Cat Race.

In addition, the brand also shared the runners-up in the competition.

Representative of the bird population was Truffle the cockatiel – who live with their loving owners in Leeds.

Truffle’s family sent in a hilarious photo of the cheeky bird making off with a piece of Lego while one of their kids plays in the background.

Meanwhile, Mouse the greyhound – who lives in Leicester – did his best to look innocent, surrounded by feathers from the cushions they had just torn to shreds.

But unfortunately for the sweet pooch, a suspicious white feather that had landed on their nose betrayed the game.

What’s more, a daring Labrador was also caught trying to jump over their owner’s garden fence – after climbing their way onto a scaffold.

Plus, a playful cat from Atherstone, Warwickshire was happily testing his pull-up skills on their owner’s beloved curtain rails.

This wasn’t the only cheeky cat shortlisted though – another gray moggy was caught standing INSIDE their owner’s fridge.

And while one mischievous dog refused to let go of their owner’s hairbrush, another gleefully poked its head through a peephole to pose for a photo with their owner.

Paul Wareham, Marketing Director at Wex Photo Video said: ‘We were very impressed and amused by the mischief shown by all the pets in the competition, but Teddy’s crafty shoeing skills and the beautiful resulting photo of his owner proved him a worthy winner.

“The overwhelming response we had to the competition highlights the deep bond we form with our pets – and how the perfect photo can capture their playful natures.”
