‘Completely ruined’ say Samsung owners because of ‘trash’ new feature
SAMSUNG users have been feeling frustrated with a new AI tool lately.
Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S24, is under fire for its “Chat Assist” feature.
The tool is designed to help users write more effective text messages using AI.
Samsung marketed Chat Assist as a tool that could modify users’ hastily typed messages to make them suitable.
It can check your spelling and grammar and also translate texts to another language.
However, users report that the AI is sometimes unable to check their text because it may contain ‘inappropriate content’.
One user on Reddit explained further: “It comes up all the time for the dumbest reasons you can think of.
“I tried to talk to my daughter’s doctor about her illness and poop/diarrhea, but it was inappropriate.
‘I tried to use it when I was talking to my wife about her sociology paper, but it didn’t work because apparently you’re not allowed to talk about racial prejudice.
“Even this message is too inappropriate to use AI text at this point!!”
The user added that Samsung overhyped the Galaxy S24 phone and discouraged potential buyers from purchasing it.
Since going live, the Reddit thread has been updated dozens of times and has received more than 100 responses.
“I’ve also noticed this: even the most inappropriate topic of conversation won’t let you use the AI,” one user commented.
“The censorship makes the AI a bit useless,” she added.
“I agree that it doesn’t make sense to not summarize because of ‘inappropriate’ content,” said another person.
“You’re just summarizing the text, not necessarily posting it publicly or anything. Why would a summarized option care about that?” they added.
A third Reddit user noted that Android’s Gboard is “miles ahead in swipe text.”
“And it has a real numeric option. I’m trying to use a Samsung keyboard but it sucks,” they noted.
Despite these negative reviews, many believe that Chat Assist has the potential to be useful in further development.
