Three ways you can instantly reduce your Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime bills

The number of STREAMING subscriptions continues to increase – and recently users had to pay extra for the privilege of not seeing ads.

Amazon Prime was the latest company to introduce ads, charging an extra £2.99 if you want to avoid them.

And in November, Disney+ also introduced price changes.

Here are ways you can save money on the three major streaming platforms.

Disney+

Disney+ now has three subscription levels, starting from £4.99 with ads.

What was previously the main subscription for £7.99 now only supports 1080p video quality and two screens in the same household at the same time.

And a newer Premium tier costs £10.99 for four screens and 4K video quality.

The first obvious way you can save money is to consider downgrading to the £4.99 plan if you don’t mind ads, although you also lose the ability to download programs offline.

Another way you can reduce costs is by using the Tesco Clubcard to pay for it, if you have enough points of course.

£12 Clubcard vouchers get you three months of Disney+.

A third solution is to subscribe via Priority if you are an O2 customer.

If you bill it through Virgin Media O2 you’ll save £2 per month.

It’s also worth keeping an eye out for the £1.99 per month offers that Disney+ runs from time to time throughout the year.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video changed its pricing structure earlier this year.

Now you’ll have to pay an extra £2.99 to avoid the new ads.

If you use O2 you can link your Prime and O2 accounts and £2 will be deducted from your phone bill.

There’s also a little-known Prime subscription for those who aren’t concerned about Amazon’s delivery benefits – read more about it here.

Netflix

Netflix has made several price increases in the past and is working on some new tiers.

It also quietly scrapped the cheapest ad-free plan you could get earlier this year.

You can get Netflix a little cheaper if you add it to your Sky or Virgin Media account if you’re an existing customer.

Otherwise, you can try the cheapest plan currently available, which is £4.99 with ads.

Sure, it has some limitations on top of ads, but it can save you quite a bit.
