Chattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced the launch of 'Niyad Nellanar' program to provide basic amenities and welfare projects to Naxal-affected villages.

The Chattisgarh government will soon launch the 'Niyad Nellanar' programme

Raipur: Chattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday stated that the state government will soon launch 'Niyad Nellanar' program to ensure that basic amenities and benefits of welfare projects reach Naxal-affected villages. In his address to the state Assembly, the Chief Minister stated that the people of these villages will receive facilities similar to those offered by the Centre's PM-JANMAN scheme, which is designed to promote the socio-economic well-being of particularly vulnerable tribal groups ( PVTGs).

What is 'Niyad Nellanar'?

Niyad Nellanar, meaning “aapka achcha gaon” or “your good village”, is the local Dandami dialect (spoken in southern Bastar).

“Under the new plan, efforts will be aimed at providing facilities and benefits only through these camps in villages within a radius of 5 kilometers from the security camps in the Bastar region,” CM Vishnu Deo Sai said.

He further added, “In the last few months, 14 new security camps have been set up in Bastar. These camps will also help facilitate the implementation of the new scheme. About 25 basic facilities will be provided in such villages under Niyad Nellanar. The benefits of 32 individually targeted government schemes will also be safeguarded.”

These security camps will also be development camps, he claimed.

What facilities are offered under this scheme?

According to the Chief Minister, families in these villages will receive free gas cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme, four free rice, gram salt, jaggery and sugar, ration cards, irrigation pumps, free electricity, community halls, Anganwadi and forest rights certificates.

According to CM Vishnu Deo Sai, besides all-weather roads, a sub-health centre, primary school, sports ground, bank, ATM, mobile tower, helipad, etc. will be constructed.

An additional budget of Rs 20 crore has been earmarked for this plan and the state government will provide more funds if required, he added. According to CM Sai, a dashboard is being created to assess and track the benefits of the programme.
