But since mega mansions are sold for a price absurd £110 millionHumble residents say the wealthy's cuts are ruining their lives.

Mazal Parissis, resident since 1987, has a brand new 10-bed townhouse owned by an oil company next door.

Furious about the work, she said of the street: 'It has been rebuilt, demolished and rebuilt again. It's not nice to hear Bang bang all day long.

“This road is closed and reopened every five minutes. It's frustrating, but there's nothing we can do about it.”

The super-rich plane flies in from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India, Nigeria, Malaysia and China to pick up giant pads on the road.

Many are successful businessmen and women, but others are diplomats and dignitaries who lead a secret life behind armed security teams.

Their homes and embassies are filled with a labyrinth of underground swimming pools and multi-car garages Rolls Royces.

But not everyone has an eye on their fat-pocketed neighbors.

Sima Alam, 46, whose London House flat overlooks Avenue Road, says many of her neighbors have 'superior complexes'.

The mother-of-two is angry: “You find a lot of them in their big cars a bit snotty, it's as if they think 'it's my right of way and I belong here, you get out of the way'.

Our neighbor built an entire HOUSE in his driveway without permission – and got to keep it after a cunning change

“They just think they're better than everyone else. It's part of life here.”

And she criticized the “disruptive” construction work because she was regularly late for school.

Today's street is a far cry from the heyday of the 1950s, when 'old money' Brits and even Bond legends Sean Connery owned plots.

But then the wealth overflowed London in the 1990s, many sold their prime properties to international buyers who bulldozed houses and built their own.

Retired milkman Les Trim, 77, has lived in his flat in the Townshend Road Estate, overlooking several townhouses, for 50 years.

He has been seen sex workers emerge from the properties and say that the rich are hiding behind a shroud of secrecy.

He told The Sun: “You get the flashy cars but you don't see these people, they keep themselves to themselves.

'You sometimes see a girl, a cleaning lady, a servant, someone who takes care of the estate. It's for the super rich. They don't really live here.'

Many of the mansions' staff live in equally impressive servants' quarters attached to the mega-mansions.

Some of these employees visit Whissons Newsgagent, telling the retailer that their bosses are good to them.

Meanwhile, Zizi Zeitoun pointed from her balcony in Townshend Road Estate to the home of a Dubai high roller.

The 71-year-old, originally from Egypt, added: “I see their cars coming out of the garages.

“At the end there is a big castle, which is too big. They have big parties here.”
