Sreesanth names IND squad for T20 WC 2024, picks THESE players as skippers

Sreesanth, 2007 and 2011 World Cup winner with India, will pick players for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in the US and West Indies.

New Delhi: Former Indian pacer and two-time World Cup winner Sreesanth has picked his preliminary Indian squad for the next ICC tournament i.e. the T20 World Cup in 2024. The man from Kerala believes that either the current captain Rohit Sharma or the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the national side in the marquee event and wants Rishabh Pant to return as the third goalkeeper if he is fit to play.

The 40-year-old strongly feels that Rohit will maintain the lead because of the five IPLs he has won in the past. But the final decision will be taken solely based on the situation and environment according to him.

“Will Rohit Sharma play or not is a big question. He becomes captain because he has won all those IPLs. Rohit Sharma or Hardik Pandya will be captain depending on the situation and environment,” Sreesanth said Sportkeeda.

”Rishabh Pant, if he is fit, he should be there as the third goalkeeper as he may need some time to get back into the lineup. We need a match winner, not someone who just hangs around. We need a player who is ready to play and win games. That’s from now on. Depending on his form, he can be the second or first wicketkeeper,” Sreesanth added.

In his 12-man squad, he went with three pacers in Shami, Bumrah and Siraj and sole spinner in Ravindra Jadeja. Besides Pant, there are also three wicket-keeping options in Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul.
