Suki Waterhouse stole the show when she showed off her growing baby bump in a breathtaking red dress at the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night.

The British actress, 32, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Robert Pattinson, became the latest celebrity to embrace a very modern approach to maternity wear.

Gone are the days of hiding blossoming bellies with smock dresses, billowy fabrics or frumpy dresses — instead, pregnant A-listers are embracing form-fitting ensembles, daring cutouts and belly-baring crop tops.

Sienna Miller, 42, showed off her blossoming baby bump in a voluminous skirt and cropped shirt on the Vogue World red carpet in September 2023, months before she welcomed a baby girl with boyfriend Oli Green, 27.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has become synonymous with “look at me” maternity wear that puts an emphasis on celebrating (not hiding) pregnant women's figures.

The singer and A$AP Rocky, both 35, welcomed their second son Riot Rose in August 2023 – bIn the run-up to the birth, Rihanna opted for a series of stylish ensembles that made the most of her bare baby bump.

After a triumphant live performance at the 95th annual Academy Awards in March, the A-lister showed off her baby bump in a green silk skirt and scarf as she took a series of photos with the rapper at the star-studded event.

She amped up her glam look with a pair of matching gloves, while strappy heels and statement earrings completed the look.

Meanwhile, in May, the We Found Love singer turned heads while enjoying a date night in New York City with her partner.

Showing off her pregnant bump, the star opted for a mesh bralette over a white bra, teaming it with blue jeans and a jacket with statement fur details.

Speaking to FEMAIL, TV and celebrity fashion expert Miranda Holder previously explained that the outfits marked a departure from traditional maternity fashion based on women being somewhat ashamed of their bellies.

She said: 'Lately we've been seeing a trend towards form-fitting and downright sexier maternity wear and I think this is just fantastic.

'Being pregnant is a very special time, as women we shine, there is a lot of excitement and anticipation and we deserve to feel our best.

'Clothes can have such a powerful effect on how we feel, how we see the world, and therefore how the world sees us.

'Making conscious choices that strengthen us and increase our self-confidence can only be a good thing. It's very individual, but let's not judge each other for being comfortable with our changing bodies.'

The stylist added: 'Being pregnant is a very personal and emotional process, we all deal with it very individually, so really the only rule should be to put yourself first.

'Never apologize for that beautiful, wonderful body and choose outfits that cheer you up and make you shine even more.

'For example, try clingy, super-soft knits instead of oversized; a sweater dress can be ideal. Experiment with straps over dresses to accentuate your shape, choosing form-fitting separates that you can layer over each other to give a “coverage” that you feel comfortable with.

“Educate yourself on color psychology to navigate those hormonal highs and lows. Zesty orange can be uplifting and energizing if you're feeling tired, for example, or natural green can be very soothing and calming if you're struggling with pre-partum nerves.”

Celebrity stylist Rachel Gold agrees: 'Times have changed and we are now in an era of acceptance and non-tolerance of judgment and shame, so hopefully women will feel more empowered to flaunt whatever they want, whenever they want.

'It's an excitingly extraordinary and life-changing time, so why shouldn't women be able to wear exactly what they want without judgement.'

Rachel adds, “If you try these looks for yourself, don't forget to wear some nice flattering colors.”

On Monday night, Suki showed off her blossoming bump in a striking red Valentino backless dress and voluminous skirt complete with a huge bow around the waist as she posed up a storm at the star-studded event at the Peacock Theatre.

The actress, who is due to give birth in the spring, let her outfit do the talking and kept her accessories minimal during her glamorous appearance.

She wore several pieces of silver jewelry on her ring finger after sparking engagement rumors by wearing a very lavish diamond band on her left hand during recent outings.

Suki started dating actor Robert in 2018 and she confirmed she was pregnant in November when she referenced her baby bump during a concert.
